belt

I own a MARCH 08 1125R with 5000miles ....This is the gap I get betweem the belt and the sprocket .... I tried to flip the belt, and it was even worse, so I put it back and you see in the photo how the belt aligns.....

The strange thing is that when I put the bike on a rear stand , and I rotate the wheel backwards the belt gets closer to the flange.... Then I flip the belt , and the same happens..the belt moves away from the flange, but when I rotate the wheel backwards it gets closer to the flange..

Is it the particular sprocket ?

Is it the particular belt ?

Is it normal ?

Normal.

Note when rotating wheel backward that the alignment starts moving to the other side.

All 1125's do this.

You may have also noticed that when you have the engine off and you are manually moving your bike around that it makes almost a "mooing" sound. That is normal too.

Take apart your pulley and rearset and reassemble. Seemed to help on my bike.

You appear to have some tire wear. With 5K on the clock, consider checking the bearings when you replace the tire.

It is almost impossible to have misalignment. This is usually caused by wear on the belt and pulleys. The best way to correct this is all new parts. If just some of those parts are changed, the new parts will always wear to the bad parts. Continued use will insure more rapid wear and potentially a broken belt.

Let me ask a basic question - did you follow procedure on tightening, loosening, and retightening the rear wheel?

proper torque?

Has it ever been over torqued?

1)check your rear wheel bearings...early bikes had a two bearing rear wheel...I believe in 2009 the design was changed to a 3 bearing design ((2)bearings on the belt side)...the belt tension loads the wheel bearings...do you hear crunching/snapping sounds when you wheel the bike around with the engine off?...you can read more about it here:

2) +1 on what 2_seasons posted

Thanks guys...

I have already changed the OEM made in Taiwan bearings to made in Japan NSKs ...

I have not overtightened anything..I use a torque wrench and values from the service manual...

Maybe it is a slight defect of the belt....

I do not worry now , since it seems that it is something consideresd "normal for the 1125..

I might try to disassemble the pulley and maybe flip it ... maybe it helps ....will see...

What a bike , by the way..... Insane cornering, when you get the setup right .....

The three bearing rear wheel started on 2010 bikes.
