So when I first got the 1125R, Jdugger said to sand the rotor, and ride the brakes hard to keep heat in the stock pads.

I did that last summer, it helped TONS. Still got just a hair of grab at low speeds, worse in the cold, but stopped well.

I just put on the EBC HH pads (that I have always run). Night and day difference!

I have just a little squeak at walking speed, and other than that, they're like MAGIC. There's no drag, no pulse, it trail brakes like a dream. The brakes finally feel STRONG, and they actually engage progressively now.

I was right, the stock pads are made from chocolate and cardboard, like my cell phone. Dugger's advice aside, maybe my daily commuting and errads just can't keep enough heat in them? I was gonna get the EBR rotor- now I don't feel like I need it.

My advice, don't even bother with the stock pads, drop 'em ASAP as preventative maintenance. The EBC's make them feel like literal crap.

I really like the EBC pads too. I have the hone for the rotor, and ton of difference

Did the caliper rebuild and that really improved the feel

There are two formulas for the EBC pads. The "extreme" and the regular HH (or whatever it's called.)

The regular pads would suit a commuter just fine. They will dust too much and even fail if you ask a track day of them at too brisk a pace, but that's exactly why they will work better for a commuter.

The Buell braking system is sensitive to how it's used. Rider, style and pad need to be closely matched. Much more so than with a traditional dual-rotor setup, IMHO.

I'm glad you found a solution that works for you. Under normal street riding conditions, I would not anticipate many riders needing a rotor upgrade. I really only ran into significant problems with the brake on the 1125r once I got to a quicker pace at the track.

The thing with the OEM setup you NEED to keep an eye on are the drive bushings. These are the "square" bits that set inside the rotor. They will wear and even shear the bearing edge of the rotor with time.

Thanks man, I'll keep it under advisement- and I only wanted the EBR rotor because was going to start doing track days too. Now I think I'm going to sell her for a Ulysses- but yeah the regular HH pads are perfect for what I'm doing now, I just can't keep enough heat in them, and I feel like a poser doing all those hard stops while commuting, trying to keep heat in.

If I could find a way to bolt a Ully tail to the 1125 I would keep it forever- man I hope they hurry up with that AX....and an ST version with a fairing wouldn't hurt my feelings either.
