Hello,
I've recently experienced an issue where my bike (2009 1125r) will charge just fine when I am riding. By just fine it is a steady 13.2 - 13.5.

When I have to stop or idle for a while it fairly quickly drops 13.2, 13.1, 12.9 etc. I've seen it hit 11.8 stopped at a light. I finally got to go again and made it home.

The only changes I've made to it (second owner) is barker exhaust, ebr ecm, Shorai battery.

I have no idea what else may or may not have been done. It had just over 2k miles when I got it. I have @ 6k now.

Any ideas what may be wrong?

Okay first thing do you keep it on a battery tender,do you do lots of stop and go riding,do you ride with it at or over 5,000 rpm. These bikes like that rpm.Does it have the "harley fix",it's a 09 so the charging system is suspect but it's got fairly low miles on it.Use the goggle search at the top and use charging system fix that should help you a bit.Your Bike needs the ebr rotor fix or a 08 charging set up sooner or latter.Welcome to the madness

I had similar symptoms because the HD harness was corroded. It was replaced under the extended warranty and the bike charges ok for now. If it happens again, the next step is to remove it completely.

Maybe this will help? Do I have the harness?

Based on what I've read, and some help from Mike, I don't believe I have the harness.

I charged the battery completely and took it for a ride today.

No issues when riding - stays above 13 the whole time.

As soon as I have to stop it is an almost immediate drop.

I'm wondering if I have a defective battery? (it's only a few months old.)

Maybe the idle is too low? I haven't done anything with it, just the EBR ECM... It's somewhere around 1200, based on the tach.

When I start riding again it goes right back up. Charging is great over 4k rpm.

That's normal just keep your battery on a tender,5000 is the rpm that keeps the stator a cooler also helps to put 3 qts of oil in at oil change time.Yes it's loud
