I would like to compile a list of available options for where our stators can be sent for rewind. If you have had someone rewind an 1125 stator please help by sharing the following info.

Name of the company:
Location:
Price for rewind:
Wire used if known:
Warranty if any:
Special options they offer: (such as higher temp wire)

I haven't torn mine apart yet but does anyone know the Rotax part number for the stator? I'm going to try to leverage some Rotax contacts to see if we can get new ones for less than $680.00.

Thanks Everyone

I think you'd also have to specify the configuration as a 'Delta' and not a 'Wye' in order for it to be compatible with the rest of the charging system which includes the Charging System Upgrade with the relay.

Perfect Hildstrom, thanks a lot. I know there are some more out there if anyone has used others please share your experience.

What is the Rotax part number on the Stator?

Y0442.2AM is the stator part number from the 2009 Buell Parts Catalog. Not sure about the Rotax part number.

Costs $544 with 20% discount.
EBR may sell it for less, but I don't know the price.

The upgraded polyimide wire from Ricks is an additional $20. Well worth the added security if you ask me.

The final ruling from EBR is that they are not selling at this time. I was told that they are preserving the small stock they have for 1190RS customers (understandable, they're not ramped up for large production, so they wouldn't have a large stock of parts like stators).

I'm going to rewind my own as well, with the 16awg polyimide and duralco 4461. Hildstrom's wire price may be incorrect now - I bought 1000 feet of the same wire he did, and I was quoted a slightly higher price (17 cents/foot rather than 16.3), so if they've raised prices, I'm not sure how that would affect the smaller quantity. I just went with the 1000 feet so I'd have extra in case I need to re-wind again, I figured with the huge volume savings, it was worth the extra $30 or so.

I've experimented with a number of the duralco coatings. The thermal conductivity rating for 4461 isn't much to write home about.

What do you recommend for coating the windings?

I don't know the right answer yet. It takes a lot of time and a lot of money to test all of the different epoxy candidates on inductively heated coils to find the right answer. I'm not there yet. In the big scheme of things, whatever you choose to use will constitute a data point for analysis by everyone who chooses to follow in your footsteps. In boldly going where no man has gone before, you get to blaze the trail by paying your money, taking your chances, and hopefully reporting back with your results.

I discussed the general principles of the thermal conductivity ratings in Hildstrom's rewind thread.

When sending and ordering my stator to Rick's what info do they need from me for the rewind to be done right?

I can't answer the question, but why not call them and ask?

Rick's has my stator right now. I just printed out the specs for the rewind listed on their website for the 1125. They told me they needed the year, make, and model of my bike, my name and contact info, and exactly what I wanted them to do.

I ended up sending mine to Rick's after I called ahead. I just wrote a short note with the bike specs and my contact info, as mentioned by 1125cr and put it in the box with the stator. I also labeled my 3 output wires 1,2 and 3 based on their location in the connector when I disassembled the bike. I don't know that it matters if they go back in the same location and feed the VR the exact same. I mentioned the labeling in my note to Ricks and they relabeled the wires on the rewind. I opted for the higher temp wire and the total was $165.

When I received the stator back it looked great and I have about 800 miles on it so far, working just fine.

okay folks ... I'm now waiting for HD-Benelux to give me a warranty-part ... the update has been done within 24 months so it should still be warranty (only on the stator-fix).

This week I've got mail from Ricks ... they say that it's better to do the high-temp-rewiring AND put on a modified rotor from EBR ... after waiting for HD-Benelux and 24 months first I'm going to put on for the rewiring from Ricks and after some testing for the stator if needed.

We'll see first what HD-Benelux is offering.

Hi
Do you recall re-installing the washer on the end of the starter pinion shaft(i think that's what it is) because if it came off during assembly, it would end up on the outside of the rotor and jamming up the casing removal and give the 'high drain'issue
Good luck mate

timebandit...i used to work in a transformer/autoformer factory decades ago...we used products from Emerson & Cummings...purchased by Henkel Loctite...may be "coating" solution but very pricey:

http://www.ellsworth.com/manufacturers/emerson-cum ing/

...and on a very low cost candidate...I learned to solder at a young age (Mom worked in a war factory)...I used to rewind my slot car motors and coat each layer of winding with "Hot Fuel Proof Dope" made for R/C airplanes... the little Mabuchi motors would get pretty hot... and the coating held up even at 20K RPM!...hth

I just got off of the phone with Rick's Motorsport Electronics and they no longer offer a rewind service. They only offer new stators now.

With them sourcing new units from overseas, it isn't cost efficient to rewind stators...

This is the Made-In-USA version.
