I figured it out... I'm having problems with my VSS, and the speedometer is cutting in and out. That means my odometer readings aren't accurate, so the fuel mileage readings aren't either. As soon as the weather goes bad, I'll take it in to the dealer.

Thanks, everyone!

Hm, now I'm curious. You also said "I'm definitely not getting 100 miles per tank of fuel."

How much gas are you putting in (that is, replacing) at less than 100 miles? If it's 4 gallons or more (that's about when I see the low-fuel light), then you ARE only getting about 20-25
mpg. If you're only putting in 2 or 3, well you can do the math.

I am getting less than 100 miles -as indicated on my odometer- per tank of fuel, but I assume that the times when the VSS is acting up and the speedometer is indicating 0, the odometer isn't ticking up either.

So it's fewer than 100 indicated miles, but I haven't sat down and tracked my comings and goings with Google maps to see how many actual miles it is.

As soon as it gets nasty out, I'll take it to the dealer to get them to look at the VSS and see if I need a re-flash.

when i first got my 08, i couldnt hardly pull 20mpg out of the thing. after the however many reflashes buell came out with for them, my fuel mileage went up considerably even though my riding style didnt change, if anything i ring its neck more then i did.

currently ive gotten in the 40's a few times, but on average id say i probably get in the 30's.

With 27k miles on Loretta, she has consistently been 37-39 mpg Avg.
On the 2 road trips I've taken(3k plus each) I was able to get 200-220 miles per tank strictly Interstate.
On the highway, commuting, I run 50 psi F&R.
Trips into the mountains I drop to 37 F&R.

I also weigh close to Froggy's negligible number...

I think the average in around 30 to 35 MPG. I typically get around 33 to 35 on my 08R. While I don't hammer it every chance I get, I do ride her pretty hard on the frwy every day to and from work.

I have a 2008R and I get 300km per tank on the highway (200 miles) and about 240km in the city, commuting. It's got 24,000 km on it. I don't get much chance in the city to open it up but I do occasionally. I ride it fairly conservatively and it's set up as a street bike not a race bike. I only have one bike; so I use it for everything (including touring).
