anyone had a problem with their 1125 running cold? at btf this weekend half the time it wouldnt get warm enough to quit flashing cold.

now i could understand if it was cold out, but i bet the worst we got was maybe 40's with some rain. even then MAYBE the water spraying in the radiators was enough but it shouldnt be.

friday and saturday it was 70-80s i think and it would still occasionally do it. but mostly run in the 160's to 170. in traffic i could hit 180's but not moving.

it seems as though i havent had that problem here in iowa until it gets pretty damn cold before, which it is not even close by my standards.

i suppose it COULD need a new thermostat, but i dont feel like just putting one in it to chack and see if thats going to help.

anyone elses act like that?

yes my 08. does approach 200 degrees unless its scorching hot out. here in ca. we typically see 80 degree days all year round. The bike stays in between 160 to 180 degrees as well. I have the ebr hmf ecm.

I see 167-168 all winter long when there's plenty of cold air around. The only time it's colder is when it's starting up.

It seems that's where the thermostat starts opening.

If you're seeing COLD, I believe that's below 150F or so. (I don't remember - the race ECU only flashes cold below 32F).

Even in the dead of winter, you should be seeing upper 160s once the bike is warmed up. If that's not the case, it's possible your thermostat is sticking partly open.

ya i know its somewhere in the 150's that it goes back to cold.

and from what i remember it used to get warm enough to read until i got down pretty cold around here.

i figure the thermostat is probably stuck open or part open.
