Just dropped off the Buell. I expressed my concern with having them fix this issue once and for all. They will try to find an 08 Stator with Rotor and install it on my bike under warranty. They have 1 other bike like mine with the same issue. Parts are hard to find so looks like the Buell is out for the season AGAIN !!!!!!!!!! WTF !!

Why not just pull the stator yourself and overnight it to custom rewind. Its not difficult. You will be down about a week and it will cost you around $200. Id rewind to 2008 specs, remove the harness, and have a permanent fix.

With the tech on vacation for a week, I had my CR back in 10 days. Parts are NOT hard to find if you have a half-competent dealership.

If you don't...grab the yellow pages. Find a new one.

I'd pay $200 to do the fix myself instead of risking weeks of downtime.

I was antsy being without my 1125R for a week while my fork seals and fork spring compressor kit were on order--and I have three other bikes to ride.

if they replace parts can you ask for them to set aside the old/bad part? I know you can request this sometimes at an auto shop...

if so - keep old and get it rewound? (wishful thinking i bet)

(wishful thinking i bet)

Unfortunately it is (wishful thinking) the dealer has to send the parts back to HD, partly to prove they did the work (and will then be paid by HD) and partly so HD can check the work was neccessary... I suspect that the second part of the reasons never happens..

Mine is in the shop for a stator replacement at the moment and I have a really good relationship witht he dealer, unfortunately they can't give me the parts back as they won't get paid if they do..

If you pay for the work (i.e. not warranty) then you are entitled to the old parts (your way of checking the work they did was neccessary and actually took place) but as HD are paying they are entitled to that proof from the dealer..

If YOU PAY for the parts you may request the old ones back . . in fact, it is required that they give them to you if you ask.

If it is warranty you have no such right and the only time you will get them is when the dealer makes a mistake.

On SOME parts . . HD asks for them back.

Your dealer is correct in that if they give you the parts they can't send them back and get credited, on their dealer account with HD, for the warranty work.

If the factory does not ask for the part back with in the specified time period, the dealer can do what he wants with the part. Not sure what time frame H-D has, but most manufacturers require dealerships to hold on to parts for 90 to 120 days.

You aren't getting a part back. HD is footing the bill since its warranty, and that makes it THEIR part.

The best you can do is ask your dealer to tag the part with your name and number, and an "if not called for return, contact this person".

got it back a few days ago. Finally had a chance to ride it today. It has the latest ECM Flash and Wire Harness upgrade. It's runs like it's never ran before. Smoother. Better power delivery. Feels like it has more Torque. We will see......
