Did you know there is a factory "recall kit" for '09 1125 charging issues? If you want to go this route, you don't have to change the stator and it doesn't cost you anything, except downtime. Plus you can retain the beefier stator if you later decide to add on electrical power sucking farkles.

I'm with you Mike, I have the 08 stator and flywheel plus picked up the new retaining nut and flywheel locking tool from Erik Buell Racing, as well bought a compu-fire switching regulator, just in case. This project will have to wait until I finish the duct work for reversing the air flow through the rads though

Mike

An option is to see if the latest burns out and if it does get it rewound by regulatorrectifier.com. It is cheap with a 5 year warranty.

The 08 is a Rotax stator and will last but you need to be doing higher revs to get the charging. Remember all the flat battery posts for the 08 1125R.

Aj -

It's NOT a flywheel...the term is "rotor".

The flywheel is on the other side of the engine.

You can always have the stator rewound to a slightly lower power. Between the 08's and the 09's output. This should allow charging at lower rpm's while putting out a little less heat.
Will be doing mine like this after the holidays.

Mike

Mike, as you can see from the picture below, on the right hand end of the crank we have a gear that drives the clutch outer basket (no flywheel). On the left hand side we have the flywheel and as Eric Buell is quoted as saying some place on this board, the 08's are lighter then the 09's/10's

The locking tool basically jams these two assemblies so the rotor can be properly torqued to the (other than pictured side) crankshaft without movement.

Okay guys if you look on page 36,37 of the parts manual you will see that it is called flywheel with hub so that is what I am calling it Mike

They can call it whatever they want, but if the starter isn't engaging it, then it's not a flywheel in my opinion.

My bike is still barely staying at 12.7 volts on the cluster at any rpms/speed. Just waiting for it to completely fail.

Aj2010-"as well bought a compu-fire switching regulator, just in case."

I have been considering this R/R myself, so I called and spoke with a tech-support guy at Compu-fire and informed him of our charging issues and wanted to know what he suggested. Well I didn't get much out of him other than "we don't make anything for your application".

I'd like to know what model/part# you purchased, and did you by chance talk to anyone at Compu-fire?
