I was wondering how much of a difference it makes to have a full or slip on exhaust? |

Narrow tube exhaust headers/pipes will give you better low end torque and power but will flatten out at higher RPM's where the larger diameter headers will be able to flow more . |

Really depends on all the variables. No changes to the engine/fuel, then you won't see much more than maybe a 10 hp gain with either. Add tuning with a good slipon, 138+ hp is an easy goal. Check the American Sport Bike exhaust shootout for more info on all the slipons. Most of the dyno runs for the full system netted probably 144-145 hp max, at least from what I've seen. So, maybe 6-7 more hp from the full system for about $1250 more than the cheapest one I make. The full systems are very well made, the welds are a bit cleaner than what I do, ie; they're works of art compared to mine. Add in some engine work, then you'll get into more power gains. The 1125RR hits something like 170+ hp at the wheel. Porting, polishing, cam timing and some other mods will get those numbers. I'm sure there's other stuff involved as well, if you need more, call Erik Buell Racing. They'll help you out more than anywhere else. |

you don't need a full system for 144 HP stock headers will do fine.. |

Are after market headers much lighter than stock? Also, my header appears to be rusting. I don't think the Erik Buell Racing Titanium exhaust headers would have much higher corrosion resistance. |
