I would bet that Buell or HD doesn't make the stators, they probably gave a spec and dimensions and it was made by another company.

Call Rotax, I bet they know.

They did, after all, ship complete engine assemblies to Buell for the production line.

The stators are made by Ducati Energia.

Ah thats the secret, they are creating an artificial shortage to prevent 1125's from kicking their ass on the track! : D

That might be true if they were the same company, but you never know with all that Italian pride running around.

The stator will probably be sourced and fitted by Rotax at time of engine assembly.
It seems that the original stator output output may have been underestimated and this is why the uprated unit was fitted. Either nobody realised that higher electrical output requires additional cooling or it was considered that the rate of stator failures projected by the consequences of the mod would be below an action level threshold statistically. In 35 years riding I have never before had an issue such as this, not even with Italian bikes which traditionally had dodgy electrical systems - I wonder what other time bombs lurk within the engine cases.
I love my 09 1125R to death but at the moment I am keeping the miles down and the revs up until the harness mod has been fitted.

The 08's stator output was fine. Buell took a shotgun approach with fixing charging issues many were having with the 08's by increasing the stator output a little, changing ECM programing, and eliminating parasitic draw from the IC.

I have no proof to back this up, but I believe the improved stator passed Buell's testing, but there is only so much testing you can do in a lab, and the real world is the only true test.

I wouldn't worry about other potential issues, there are many out there with well over 50k miles and counting. Of course, it will be interesting to see how the motors do in the long run in the real world.

Not to change topics but does anybody have any axle grease i could borrow because i'm in the middle of getting F**ked by HD and some grease would really be appreciated!!! and a used stator to bite down on, there not good for anything else. oh wait HD is using them as c**k rings to make this F**k last longer. Us riders, Eric Buell and a great bike. all getting F**ked at the same time. and on top of all that i can't even say "HD to go F**K yourself" cause they all ready have.
