If a rider could hold the handlebars tight enough, the entire rear end of the bike would swing back and forth around the rigid pivot point at the steering stem.

This is because the bike wants to naturally go straight, and irregularities in the pavement and external inputs like rider and wind DO slightly steer the bike. The bike is just doing what it needs to do in order to continue to go straight.

The hardest thing about doing nothing is the,"me crapping my leathers,"part!I think it is the huge "pucker" factor that prevents this: )

I weigh about 250 in leathers and have the suspension settings maxed out pretty much and I can run up to 147 (as I did Saturday : D) with no instability. I've been riding a long time though and maybe I just am used to dampening the twitchy front end with my arms.

At those speeds I am on the airbox, forearms pressed against the airbox and I tend to push both hands into the bars rather than pull. Pulling is only going to add input that you do not want. Push in and down and try and absorb the action with your forearms...nothing past the elbow should be acting on the bars.

If I was doing trackdays I am sure a stabilizer would be the way to go.

Ive been riding for about 12 years now and have never had this issue before. Im a little hesitant to blame it on myself, but it is possible Im causing it. Ive ridden for miles at speeds well above where Im experiencing this issue and havent had any kind of nervous feeling. Maybe Im used to my old bike and this one is just different. I really dont know yet.

There are no viable steering dampers for the CR model. This has been discussed here on other threads. In fact a couple companies actually took in a CR in an effort to fit them, but without success.

Ratbuell made a comment about wearing a loose fitting textile jacket influences stability, I concur with that, snug fitting leathers is much more aerodynamic.

I dont normally wear a jacket at all, but this occurs with or without the jacket. Its on an 1125r. It did seem worse the one time I wore my jacket and it happened, but that doesnt explain the occurrence of it when Im not wearing a jacket.

Ive seen that before and Ive seen plenty of accidents in person. I was 10 feet behind my fiance when she flipped her bike. She was wearing a jacket, boots, gloves and a helmet. I always wear a helmet and gloves.

I feel too restricted in my jacket. I cant look over my shoulder if I want to change lanes. I would rather look and see someone and avoid them than to hit them because i couldnt see and say at least I had my jacket on.

Sounds like you need a new Jacket Mike or a longer neck. I've never had a problem looking over my shoulder. I have a fieldsheer leather and textile jackets.

Go faster, it'll sort itself out.

I've had my 1125R up to and slightly over 160mph indicated several times. I didn't find it to be unstable at all... In fact I found it to be quite planted.

I did find that the bike is aerodynamically limited to 155mph with my FirstGear Silverstone saddlebags on.

For the record, I weight about 195lbs and am 6'2".

Is the problem top speed? I don't think so. It's track surface that is a big contributor. If you're on a smooth surface there's nothing to start the wobble, at least in my case. I only get to about 135 every lap, over and over, with no wobble. But if I hit the transition from the road track to the dragstrip where theres a slight bump in the asphault, going about 90 this can set off some head shake. But with my GPR this is all gone.
