Alright, don't flame me for not doing a search. I did. I know the subject has come up before, but I could not get back into it after viewing the first search selection.

I have been on the convertibar.com site and seen that there is now a bike specific kit for the 1125R. Has anybody tried it?

I love my 'R', but my old forearms don't. Bars are cheaper than buying a 'CR'. Lecture me on posture if you must, but believe me, that is not the problem here. I am 62 years old with tendonitis and onset of carpal tunnel.

I can tolerate the discomfort still, but the problem is getting worse. I am too addicted to sport riding to give up the bike, so am looking for a solution that does not destroy the appearance of the bike - but will sacrifice cosmetics if necessary.

Are there any more options out there?

Thanks!

Jack

I have an option in progress. The parts were backordered for several months but the throttle cables finally came in yesterday.

I will machine 3" risers and plan to use the longer lines/cables for the CR bar conversion. I did not size them up yet so I hope they are really 3" longer than the stock R lines/cables. Hope there are no surprises. Will update when project is complete.

Thanks, xnr - can't wait to see it.

I'm almost afraid to try the 'CR' on for size. The looks of that bike really speak to me.

What is your target date for completion?

Go ahead and sit on a CR. The bars are same or lower than those on the R. The High bar kit in the future for mine, just waiting on the cables. Should be in any day.

Our dealership is doing a CR accessory bar on the R. We are waiting for the CR top triple clamp to arrive.

I will post pictures as soon as the part comes in and the install is completed.

I just received my CR top triple clamp for evaluating this conversion. It's doable, but will take some machining and a secondary part for supporting the ignition switch.

Al, I'm thinking that this is an opportunity for Trojan: a complete conversion kit including cables, et. al, to bars. From what I've seen of his products, I'd expect it would be fully engineered and no 'machining' or 'secondary parts' necessary. THAT'S a triple clamp that would address a general need (assuming it would all clear the fairing on the R's).

If he decides to do it, Al will do it right also. The kit will be complete.

What do you think, Al? I will hold off if you think you will offer this mod.

This is exciting! Within a short time someone will get this set-up on the market. We are using the Buell CR accessory bars, but Magura (makes the one for the CR), Renthal and others make this type of handlebar (7/8" on the ends, 1" on the clamping surface) allowing even more flexibility in choices.

When I wired the Passport 8500 X50, it was b4 I knew about the accy. plug. I ran the Passport power lead back to the tail section where I had some open terminals on a key switched controlled terminal block.

... riser now in Rev_2. Angle needs adjusted back 5 degrees. The riser is keyed in position like the stock clip-on.

Looking pretty good. How much rise and how much further back?

What material did you use and what keeps them from rotating?

Rise = 2 ; Run = 2.25 ; Aluminum
Anti-rotation via keys just like stock; riser has positive key to enter tree and negative key to accept handlebar.
I had to extend the clutch and brake switch wiring and am at the limit on the control wiring. The controls wires had to be run outside the fairing bracket tunnel.

FYI

We have two kits for 1125R owners that want a more lightning type of riding position. We have one which is based on the CR accessory bar kit and another that offers some different bar options, IMO these look cleaner that some of the other kits out there.

pm me and I will send video clip.

To install the CR bars did you modify any of the stock wiring on the R? If so, is that part of the kit?
I think I saw your pics on this R-to-CR bar conversion. It includes a replacement top tree ... correct?

You have to extend the stock wiring on both of our kits. We include the wiring for the extensions.

Both kits have a different top tree. The CR needs some work, for mounting the ignition switch and having the fork lock functioning.
