I'v browsed through the forun here about the 1125R Buell's. It seems that I'm seeing a bit of disapointment for one reason or another, but tending to be about recalls and dependability??? Have they got the bugs worked out yet? In the showroom they look pretty nice, and the BIG GILLS thing dosn't appear to be as unsightly as I was led to believe, I think with the current crop of Bullet bikes they stand out some, but I believe that the look will quickly grow on you, and really I find it in the "totaly trick" catagory of looks. The Hayabusa, from the start was a bit different, but I find that It's now what makes it look good. I'm wandering here but, anyway are the 1125R's good to go yet?

Dude, somehow you have missed something in the translation. The 1125R is a KICK ASS bike. I've been riding for almost 30 years, and this year on the Buell has been the most enjoyable of them all. No Bull. My ONLY regret is waiting until February 08 to buy it. I missed out on a good 2 months of riding this beast.

Quirks? yes... but definitely not a show stopper. 17K miles so far... I rode 180 miles today.... had so much fun it should be illegal. Well... actually... most of it was illegal.

Dont miss out, buy it!

At the reduced 2008 prices, this bike is a STEAL--selling some places in the range of 600cc bikes. No brainer, period.

I too waited too long. Last spring I bought a Yamaha FJR rather than the 1125. Then two months ago I saw a sale sign on the 1125s at the dealer when I was in getting parts. Joked about buying it and rode one home.

I put about 1800 miles on it before turning it in to a track bike two weeks ago. Didn't ride the FJR for most of those first two months. Still haven't started my Sportster XR1200 Streettracker (another bike I dearly love) since getting the 1125.

Now I miss riding my 1125 on the street and I'm thinking of trading the FJR in on one of the 08's still at the dealer. I've ridden a lot in my life and few bikes have ever been this good to me. Not one bit of trouble. Changing out the intake solenoid is no problem at all, and if it is then maybe motorcycle ownership is too much.

Ride one. Feel the front end get light and the head shake when you shift. Then go to a trackday and try opening up on the turns. You'll be amazed! In fact I'm addicted.

You have to understand that although there were some bugs in the 08s, the important thing is that Buell has addressed (and continues to address) them effectively.

Read Motorcycle Consumer News and you'll see that all the manufacturers have their recalls, not just Buell.

Part of the reason you think there are bugs with the 08s is that Buell admits to them and takes responsibility for them! Don't hold that against them, but recognize and appreciate the character of this company.

My '08 has given me no problems that a battery tender didn't cure, at any rate.

17K??? Nice Ray!!!!

Mine was delivered December 18th, right after one of the biggest snow-storms that winter.
I passed 13k two days ago.

Loretta has suffered with bad early mapping and a bad camshaft, found at the 12k service( was running just fine).
I have gotten calls FROM customer service, that's never happened before...

I have NEVER been this smitten with anything.

Based on the recent recall of the 1125CR..... I say still not ready for prime time.

It appears to me Buell has blown a great opportunity to hit a home run with the 1125R. Sure it appeals to the faithful here but not to the average sport bike rider. Issues with the '08's took the edge off product acceptance by the general sport bike folks. I say it was a double.... not the home run I was hoping for.

I'll let it bake a while longer..... then maybe.

I've talked to lots of IL4 owners that are drooling over this bike.

When we get to talking, and something along the recalls comes up, everyone has been pretty consistent in their reaction. They are impressed everything is getting corrected so quickly.

Not one person has mentioned Buell missing the mark. Funny how those comments are reserved for people belonging to }a Buell enthusiast forum...

I can only speak from my experience, coming up on 2 months of ownership and around 1900 miles.

The bugs on my bike are gone. I haven't had the latest recalls done (kickstand, vent and dipstick), but my bike runs wonderfully and has given me no issues.

As far as recalls go, esp voluntary ones, I look at them differently than some people do. I see that as a good thing. Nothing is perfect, parts fail, part vendors mess up quality. I feel that it's a good thing that Buell actually addressed these minor issues and takes care of them. What more can you ask for really?

If you want one and have the means, go get one. You won't be disappointed.

I picked up mine december 4th i have not stopped riding it. Hands down best bike i have ever owned. And i've had every kind of ricer out there. The bugs in the beginning were insignificant and buell took care of them which is better then i can say for some of my last bikes.

The only little problem left is the burning out of turn signals. Both mine are out and i just dont feel like replacing them.

I guess everyone is different, but to me even that is a problem. I'm not retired and I don't like going to the dealer at all. Too busy with other things.

I think most people that would reject such things have moved on from here but a few of us here really do want this to be a winner and ware watching.

BUY AMERICAN!

The bike is sexy... I've never looked at vehicle that's inspired me the way the "R" does. You can tell that there is passion behind it's curves. This bike has soul, it's unlike any other bike i've ridden. You'll never worry about the ordinary again when you ride something as extraordinary as the 1125R.

As far as the bugs... The new tune seems to have dealt with engine management issues that have come up. All the others are trivial.

I previously owned a Firebolt so when the R came along it was a no brainer. I did wait to buy one for almost a year simply because I wanted to see how the bike was going to be "out of the box". During that year I bought a Triumph Speed Triple. Absolutely awesome bike but I really wanted the R. A year was all I could take. Picked mine up in August and haven't looked back.

Sure it's got a couple quirks but I haven't seen anything that's been really that big. The flashes and 5th gear recall are free fixes. Heck, as far as I can tell, all the recalls are free. The turn signal problem is most likely covered by the warranty. It's just a turn sig, I'll use my arm if I have to. My battery was low on charge when I bought the bike so I charged it. If it dies, I'll buy a new one. So far keeping it on a tender when parked works great. Simple.

Please know that I'm not trying to minimize the "kinks" with the R. I'm just saying that it appears the problems have been minor. We're not blowing engines or dropping pods off or anything like that. And laying the bike down on the track, well that another story.

I have to agree with many others that this is probably the best bike I've had to date.
