I don't think liking or disliking noisy pipes is a matter of maturity; or even a matter of consideration of others. I ride a daily commute to work and back and have put ~17,000 kilometres on two bikes over the past few years alone. In my experience, including as a car driver since the 1960s, everyone knowing where the motorbike is, is in everyone's best interests. We're quick and we're hard to see except at night when we have the benefit of bright lighting. "loud pipes save lives" is a truism, IMHO. We don't want to be hit, and as a car driver I don't want to hit a bike. So I say, don't apologise for wanting to be heard as well as seen, by using a noisy pipe. I call it "the horn on the back of my bike", the one you wish you could use on your car when someone tailgates you or follows too closely -- or worse, on a bike, when someone comes to stop at the lights, right on your rear tire. I wind it up to 7,000 rpm for awhile to raise their awareness of their thoughtlessness, lest next time they make my Honda into a Honda Accordion.

I'm trying to be curtious w/ the new pipe. After scaring a few people with it, I did feel guilty. Now, i'm coasting w/ the engine off through the subdivsion into the garage and I won't start it when strangers are standing next to me. As far as pricks in their $100k cars talking on their black berries, you can better believe I will open it open right next to him so he'll get off the damn phone and pay attention.

Shaun, no shop just a carport, until my house deal goes through and I'll have a REAL shop to work in.

I wrapped the headers to combat the heat a little bit and I'll get some pics of the baffle when I get back into town.

The red covers is just red duct tape , the airbox is the CIA airbox from American Sport Bike. The K&N is a Toyota Camry filter and I can give you that part # once I get back. The plate is mounted from the two mounting points under the tail once you take apart the "speed hole" plate hanger. I don't have the intergrated signals yet, I'm still debating I now have some small one that mount on the sides of the tail about 4 inches back from the tail light.

Oh and anyone out there worrying, I haven't been sneaking up on unsuspecting bystanders to scare the piss out of them . I just enjoy an nice sounding exhaust,as do many gear heads do, which is why I have another questionably loud exhaust, a Force Streetfighter on my S-1.

That's the stock baffle? The little flanges on the inside of the tip look like provisions for some additional insert.

I just heard one of the modified stock cans yesterday, and all I can say is WOW! Deep booming bass, sounds a lot like a Drummer. I love the way the D&D looks, but I think I am going to go the modification route.

I was just THROUOGHLY impressed with what I heard yesterday. Just exactly what I am looking for. Listening for. Whatever, you know what I mean.

Rob ,that's a homemade baffle, also the reason for ugly welds. Who's gonna look in it anyway??

Haven't taken a decibel meter to it but it does cut a little of the high pitched sharpness off of it. I've got a vid of me sittin' and in motion ,I just can't post it.

I would love to have that baffle on mine. Hey, could this pipe still cause hearing damage with ear plugs in? My commute is at least 1 hour per day. Will I be fine as long as I wear some kind of protection.

Blazin,

So this k&n air filter... does that require some kind of modification?

Sorry Shaun, I forgot to look at the filter today. The number is 33-2370 for a Toyota Camry. You'll have to trim the long sides to fit and since it's thicker it'll take some patience to fit it to the curve and get the mounting straps on. Also if need be, I cut the short ends off the stock one and put them in the bottom to fill in the small gap at the ends until the K&N takes shape.
This weekend I'll try to pull out the baffle for pics and get another vid Funktron.

I'll try to get time to pull out the baffle for pics and make another vid Funktron. BTW a big box of earplugs was the first thing I bought after putting on the pipe,it's not too bad in town but the highway drone is murder.

One other question Blazin,

Where could I take my bike to have a custom baffle made for it. Obviously, what you did is something I could never do. I'd like to tone it down a notch and i'm willing to pay to have it done.

Shaun, I finally took it back out for pics of what it looks like. Any muffler shop should be able to weld you one up. Take your end can with you so measurements can be done without worry of them messing up your bike.

And ear plugs are always a good idea, I just never bothered until getting this pipe.
