Yes, he is ready to make some for the 1125r, however I think he lost the patterns in the meantime. I might have to redo, which I am not too happy as I spent lots of time on the first set to make them right. I keep you posted.

Good news. The pattern for the frame of the 1125r was not lost, Tec SPec was asking if the side airbox of the 1125r needed a new skin to fit it (not knowing it is the same as the XBs). With that clarified, the new frame skins are produced and with any luck, I should have them installed by week's end.

Even if they are not, you should be able to contact Dean directly. I am sure he would be tickled to see some orders coming in for a product that is literally days old.

$61.85 shipped.

I'll try them out tomorrow (12hours to "set" plus its raining) but on the FJR it was a big difference and I expect even more due to the sitting position on the 1125R.

Hmmm, that doesn't look exactly like the pattern I sent them. I actually expected to be the test mule on these skins...looks like they are already selling them.

Grip skins vs stomp grip?
I prefer the clear of stomp grip.

its "almost" a correct pattern, but really the tank sides are what bother me - how long have they been selling the XB kit?

The clear ones looks like crap pretty quick

I really like the original, essentially black rubber sand paper, but don't wear dress pants or anything else a little thin. Its even rough in jeans.

After a full day at Total Control I can say the gripskins work great, as expected.

I'll be at Superbike School in 2 weeks, we'll see if this pattern holds up better (the original stuff works for 2+ years or ~2 tracks days in my experience)

How does this TechSpec’s compare to Stomp Design (http://www.stompdesign.com/stompgrip/home.asp)?

How is this on the leathers? I've heard that it wears through them.

Thanks,
Jason

I'll bet the original design (the sandpaper one) would, it was hell on my dress pants. The new designs are not as rough.

The stomp grips are more rough on leathers and they tend to fall off after awhile if you are not careful with installation.

THe Tech-Spec pads are much nicer against jeans, leathers and other pants. Plus the Tech Spec pads can be removed and repositioned etc.... Their glue works really nice. Want to really clean the bike, take off the Tech Spec pads and place them on some wax paper.

Also, I remember reading in Motorcycle Consumer News that they recommended the Tech Spec pads over Stomp Grip as well.

How do they stick then if you can take them off so easily? What keeps them from sliding around when you are really using them?

Its hard to take them off, and you do it at a 90deg angle to the bike. ie you peel off a .125" strip at a time. To slide under use you would have to move the entire panel. 10+ track days with Tech Spec and they do *not* move.

Just installed the Grip Skins. Very simple once I figured out how to not peel the adhesive with the paper backing.

The web site still does not list the 1125R. You select the Lightning kit, and specify the 1125 in the comments section.

They look good on the bike - can't wait to try them out. Riding to work tomorrow... : )

TechSpec left a message for me last week, but didn't return my message back. Who knows...

Maybe I get a free set for sending so much business their way? ; )

We've received a number of requests for the TechSpec Grip skins, and I've had very positive feedback from folks that use them. So we're carrying them now. The 1125 is version specific, here's a couple pictures:

I think the new 1125 versions are longer than the older ones shown on Josh's bike above. I may to talk to them about revising the profile of the knee pads on the airbox cover for a bit better match to the airbox shape, but I don't know if that'll happen.

It's up on the store here: http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/16146.html

The High Fusion type (thinner .032 thick, instead of 1/8" thick) is here:
http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/16148.html . This is a different material than the old sandpaper rough stuff.
