That was a good read. Thanks for sharing. Just a damned shame this seems to confirm there won't be any new EBR motorcycles in the future. : (

Thank you Erik for the motorcycles. Still riding my most favorite RS1200, and S3s. All our best to you and yours.

Great article. He and Mike Rowe need to get together. Maybe they could straighten out some of the morons running our educational system.

Great article! This is exactly why so many many of us are fanboys of Erik Buell. Not just for the great motorcycles he built, but because he is such a genuine and great man!

Good read & spot on.

Wow Hugh, I immediately thought the same. You know who else values trade skills and had voiced concern over schools abandoning shop classes? Shelina Moreda - I suggested she team up with MikeRoweWorks and she was game with it. I was at a loss though on how to make intros lol. Maybe now that she's a "Covergirl".

Imagine the 3 of them collaborating.

I posted a link to the article on Mike Rowe's FB page, and it was approved, so maybe Mike'll see it.

For interesting reading on the value of work, try Matthew B. Crawford's "Shop Class As Soulcraft: an Inquiry into the Value of Work, and "The World Beyond Your Head: Becoming an Individual in an Age of Distraction".

Crawford presents thoughtful, articulate social criticism, well-researched and written in an accessible and often amusing style. He is also a motorcycle mechanic and rider.

Both books are inspiring and will flex your head.
