Could it be the garage gets opened again for another HD V twin, the water cooled XG750R?

Could it be that an engine is so replete that some bolts and connectors allow the engine to be extracted with the injection attached and shoe horned into an XB type frame?

At a reasonably obtained 100hp from some techiness and nearly 10,000 revs, with its six speed, may permit one hell of a road course machine?

OR do I dream a nightmare?

I have to ask why??? He already had an awesome water cooled engine and things still went south. Why would he want that HD POS engine in anything with this name on it?

It might be a fun home project if that engine is a lot lighter than the old Sportster-derived air cooled engine.

Not for or against.... just some thoughts,
1. a neat project definitely
2. unlike the 984 and 1203 engines, the XG750 is produced
3. the Street750 sucks as a motorcycle & is in need of help
4. flat track has little to relate to street (no front brake etc)
5. just ONE XB750S would cause a huge media speculation
6. HD would need to address the news (could be clumsy)
7. one way to distance HD, give Buell tm back to Erik
8. OR make a better offer than the last to Erik
9. if Erik so desires I will ship my XB9S & a Street750 engine
and some wherewithall to get it started.

Any way I look at such a task it is a winner, even if the EBR 1190's continue to be built and sold. For me it would be a catharsis for such a paladin.

Maybe because that is what Erik did for over 20 years. You share the forum with many Old Schoolers who love Erik's H.D. powered machines. I for one would welcome another one.

I liked the original Street Rod. This thing? I'd rather have the Yamaha Bolt "C" Spec.

The Yamaha looks like a Sportster . . . the Sportster looks like some HERO creation.

OK; I'll be the dissenter. I kind of like it. I think it will make equal or better horsepower than most other production 750 twins stock. It definitely makes more than all the other Cruiser 750 twins. I suspect that it would be a good all around motorcycle, and it's at a reasonable price point. Now, if the MoFoCo can get off their dead asses and market it properly, it might even start selling.

Oh; the Yammie Bolt is just a poor copy of the Sportster, and looks it. I might own one if someone gave me enough money to take it off his hands. For a sizable bonus, I wouldn't even tell anybody who I got it from.

However, When a new 1190 SX can be had for the same price as the Street, there's absolutely way in hell I would buy any Harley over an EBR.

Might be a "Poor Copy" but according to Consumer Reports, Yamaha builds the most reliable motorcycles available (even nudging out Honda). Harley is strictly "mid-pack" but still looks better than BMW or Can-Am (bringing up the bottom of the list).

And the 1190SX currently features a no-cost maintenance/repair plan.

Five years from now, if it breaks, you won't have to pay anything to not be able to find the parts you need.

Laughing to keep from crying...

You guys are killin' me.
I'd talked myself out of a deal on an SX since I have an RX and an XB12, so figured I didn't need the extra machine.
The idea was to reduce the herd...

Quick Cycle Trader nation wide EBR search gives these results. Obviously it doesn't display all available inventory out there.
Part of the "bonus huge supply" Court was referring to.

Court, I did move the 1125R last month to someone who'll enjoy it.
But that still leaves 6 more in the shed(s).

Robr,
Are you really trying to educate me about old school Buells? Have you seen my profile pic?

My tube frame Buell stable has actually increased since that photo and I own several newer Buells to include a 2012 EBR Carbon Edition 1190RS as well.

As far as using the HD street engine in anything that says Buell on it that would not be "old school" at all as that is a water cooled engine which automatically rules it out as "old school" IMO.

The "water-cooled is not old school" opinion is a prevalent one, I myself am guilty of it. I wonder why more extensive oil cooling methods were not sought.

And go look at the oil requirements (grade and volume) for an older air cooled 911 flat six.

I like an aircooled engine that can do the job reliably, as it is simpler.

I can do fine with a water cooled engine and will take the extra complexity if it also gives me more durability.

66 VW bug - straight grade 30w, 1500 miles oil change, check valve gap. Four bolts held the engine in place.

Yeah; and it made 45 HP and had a top speed of 75 MPH. I know; I had one.

A 1991 Porsche 911 (964 series flat six aircooled non turbocharged) motor requires 10 quarts of full synthetic oil.

Though it may still just have just 4 bolts to hold the engine in place.
