I was looking around for some EBR parts online and came across some 1190rs velocity stacks! I couldn't pass it up and pulled the trigger on them for $385. These are going on my RX, its a good thing i ordered the matching RS carbon fuel rail mounts. Has anyone ever come in contact with these before? I have seen them in pics but thats about it.

Looks like the same ones that came stock on the 1190RR-B

Are you referring to the 1125 velocity stacks made by Twin? I tried installing mine on my RX but they did not fit. Aside from the fuel rail bracket being in the way once the stacks are in place the retaining ring will not go into place. Here is a pic I snapped from youtube of the RS with its airbox open. The pic is not that great but you can see one of the two stacks and they appear to be different from the RR

I just noticed, the ones in your ebay link do not have mounting holes on them for the showerheads like the RR ones do, so they would indeed be for the RS which mounts those injectors differently.

I never knew there was a special race stacks for the RS, cool to know.

I had no idea either but I remembered seeing an RS with two stacks instead of one, I don't remember if it was on line or at a race. I have no clue where the vendor got them from but i just had to have them. They are indeed rare and I'm almost certain that at $385 a real steal. Liquid assets doesn't even have the stock stack from the RS, they only have the gasket and fuel rail brackets. I'm a little exited to get home and install them, there has to at least be a decent gain in top end power. I only wish I didn't have to wait 5 weeks to be home.

I don't see any advantage in extending the air column. If you do the arithmetic, tuning the third wave with a longer column as these do, would lower the center speed range from 8500 to about 7500 RPM. The engine already has strong torque in that speed range. Adding these stacks will create a peaky power band in that speed range rather than flattening the torque curve out. I think this mod would make driving the bike more difficult.

I am the worst when it comes to arithmetic, I don't doubt what you are saying is true. I'm curious to see what happens and compare dyno sheets, worst case I just put them on the shelve to collect dust. The twin stacks did some good to the 1125, Im going to see what they do to my 1190. They were on the RS for a reason, I doubt they'd be on there if they were useless.

Pretty sure I remember there only being ONE aluminum stack, the other TB had a plastic one like my 1125R.

That is correct for a stock, from the factory, setup on the RS, Zac.
The aluminum stack is the taller of the two.

What Steve says is mostly true.
The longer velocity stack will lower the rpm where the most torque is. This might help with more street driving vs. track.

But the "peaky" comment is dependent on many other things than just the intake column length.

I did a lot of drag racing with a port injected small Chevy in a dragster a 'few' years back. Did a fair amount of experimenting with inj. tube length and header design.

One comment on "today's" port injected engines in drag racing, the velocity stack column length is VERY short..!
About as close to the butterfly as can be done.
But again...this "IS" racing, and not realistic for the street.

Slightly longer would be a good thing for a street oriented 1190...in my experience.

Who know's if these will do anything for my RX My first order of business is to get a base run on the dyno, after that will be Deans pipe and programmable ECM. The last thing will be to see if the stacks are good for anything, I'm hoping they don't disappoint. As far as daily rider goes my RX is my Sunday ride bike. My daily is my 06 R1, mostly because I can find parts for it all day everyday and it only cost me 4k with 19k on the clock and it runs great.
