Good words to remember. Thanks Rboy. We all love our Buells and thats all that matters. Most people dismiss us because we're different and I like that. Especially while running past a squid on a Yamajunk in the twisties. Eric had this in mind I believe. Handling is where the normal streetbiker finds harmony, not at 160mph. I live to corner not dragrace in a straightline.

It's nice to have something that nobody else has. Some bikes are rare because they are expensive, some are rare because they are built in limited quantities, but ours are rare because squids think they're junk. Well, so be it! The fewer squids with our bikes, the better IMO.

I know I'm cross-posting but we're going to be having a track day put on by Glendale Buell/HD at the Streets of Willow (Willow Springs shorter/twisty track) on March 19th.

Will be posting details.

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 40.html?1172193965

Glendale will be doing some filming.

This is a SOCIAL event as much as a riding event... it is NOT racing - it is a track day, there will be people there to offer technical support, bike setup, on-track guidance.

Come one, come all!

More info as it becomes available.

What about a fender eliminator?? I would also like to have a solo seat... email me pictures and information about my request to hoffmannk at uwplatt dot edu about the swap... Thanks

The Cyclone's sub-frame is too long to accept an S1 tail section. If you are handy with a welder and shop tools, you can carve it up and configure it into S1 form. Pretty sure there are multiple discussions in the archives here somewhere. If you get lost looking for them, give me a holler and I'll see if I can help. : )

One suggestion: If you don't want a lot of spam, avoid posting your email address online in view of the whole world. I've edited your post to try to prevent the spambots from harvesting yours. : )

hoffmannk endoman here i had a 97 m2 that i used an s1 tail section on aswell as an xb firebolt nose and support bracket. all you have to do is rework the sub frame loop and angle you'll need a welder tape measure some black frame paint and an angle finder and of course the s1 tail to mock it up. fender elimanater i never found. i do have paper pic of that bike but i would have to find someone to scan them for me in oder to send them to see if you like that set up

This just out today about our track day in a couple weeks! ($100 track days are really rare nowadays!)

Note: If you have questions, you can PM me through my profile here - I'll get right back to you no later than same evening.

quote:

Come Join Us/Buell Track Day/Monday/March 19
Harley-Davidson/Buell of Glendale invites you to join us for a track-day on the Streets of Willow Springs on Monday, March 19th. We will be joining our friends at Hypercycle for a day of riding, instruction, education and some friendly competition on one of southern California's best tracks. With over 15 turns in just over 2 miles of looping asphalt, the Streets of Willow Springs has a little bit of everything from sweepers, chicanes and even a banked 180 degree turn.

If you have never participated in a "track day" before, the first thing you should know is this is not a race. The day is an opportunity for you to enhance your skill level in a safe, predictable and fun environment. You will learn more about you and your motorcycle in this one day than in months or even years of riding on the street.

Requirements: A full face helmet
Full finger gloves
Leather or Gortex pants and jacket
Boots (over the ankle)
Good tires
All lights/turn signals must be taped (this an be done at the track)

In order for your track experience to be as safe and enjoyable as possible, we recommend that you replace you tires and brake pads if they have not been changed lately. You will be using them both a lot! Our parts experts can walk you through the many tire options we have available. Don't wait for the last minute, call us for an appointment today at 818 246-5618, ext 193.

Also we will be filming a Buell documentary that day, depicting the fun, action and camaraderie that is involved with the Buell lifestyle. We'd love to have you there and be a part.

Depending on the number of confirmed attendees, the price will be no more than $99.00 per person, or less. Please RSVP to Mario at 818 246-5618 ext 109 for this event as soon as possible. All payments will be made at the track.

I'm still looking for an S-1/S-3 motor for my '97 S-3. If anybody knows of a wadded bike that is not salvageable, drop me a line. Having my bike laid up for the season is going to be painful!

Hoff -- the tailsection of an S1 will not bolt on the M2 frame without modifying the frame --

if you're looking for parts, check out the classified section here -- they also turn up on ebay

Wycked,
You sure about that? We have to use different slave cylinders for XB vs XL engines, the distance from the threaded in primary cover entrance to the ball ramp arm is about 10mm longer. If that can be adjusted out at the adjuster, then you may be right. I haven't tried it.

The clutch cables used to be in the mid $20s, then they jumped to about $45, and they just jumped again to about $57. But the XB cables are still in the mid $20s. So if what Wycked writes is true, it's a good deal.

We did it on Bartimus' S1 while I was waiting for new clutch plates and a new cable for him. He replaced it AFAIK with an XB cable from Murray at Sante Fe HD/Buell. It is the "S" model that I speak, the "R" model has that stiffener at the lever.

So, my local dealer in Manchester, NH like most HD dealerships have removed most of the Buell accessories and apparel. They now have a couple of helmets, some shirts and one overpriced jacket. They reduced the number of bikes for sale and stuffed the accessorys/apparel in a back, hidden corner. Buell needs to have stand-alone dealerships as mentioned on this site before!! I told the service guy about a particular problem and some HD dude next to me kept shaking his head and frowning like I was ruining his precious HD diamond-studded image of being the "hard core" biker brand. Whatever, those dudes pay almost 20,000 dollars for their slow, heavy barcoloungers!! I don't want to just look cool, I want to have fun going around corners without worrying about dragging my pipes and saddlebags. "Yep, it's loud, and slow, but I'm one bad mofo because I can afford this sled!"

Cg, it baffles me to see all the HD/Buell dealers. then you go in and they have 2 bikes and no accessories available. Hal's is one of the biggest Buell dealers here in Southern Wisconsin and all they have is a few jackets, a bunch of shirts and a small rack with a few items on it. The amount of HD stuff outweighs the Buell gear/accessories 10-1.

If the web page has accessories listed on it, Buell dealers should stock them. Buell guys want Buell parts just like the Harley guys do. I'm sorta tired of the half/@ssed way dealers are doing things and I just got into this.

I think most of us are tired of it. It further sucks to walk into dealerships and feel like an outsider or that you aren't welcome there by the other customers. Not that I really care what others think, but the atmosphere could be better. Heck, if Buell had a stand-alone dealership, I might just spend more time and hence, more money on accessories and products.

We got em, we support em, I ride em. I am convinced that if you don't have an enthusiast on staff that promotes, rides and is excited about Buells, that they will not sell.

I'd be more interested in Buell clothing if they weren't asking $26 for a basic t-shirt.

Totally agree!

Cityxslicker,

Our dealer has at least two Buell rider/enthusiasts on staff, but still the nonsense continues. I guess it's not the dealers fault really. It's a business decision. They sell wayyy more Harley stuff and not much Buell stuff, so the Buell stuff gets moved to the corner. }

I read a letter to the editor recently in a major moto rag -- the writer said he'd sold his HD bagger and bought a Goldwing, being tired of the lack of quality and performance available from HD touring rigs (his words, not mine, btw) . . . .

writer went on to express dismay when trying to buy t-shirts, posters, sox and other paraphenalia linked to his new Goldwing -- was confused and disoriented when the Honda staff pointed him to the single tshirt they had -- likened going into the Honda delaership to "entering another world." Pormptly sold his Goldwing, and bought a new HD bagger.

curious, I thought

I got two words for you Bomber, "life style"

I used to be amused by the t-shirts and doodads at the local H-D dealer, back when I was just looking, but now that I got an M2, I'm not amused that they don't carry any Buell stuff!
