I'm sure Wisconsin knew that Virginia, North Carolina and Mississippi would grant lots of breaks and credits and caved in. They all do.

Virginia?? Cool. I'd love the chance to for for them! Come on down.

You guys are a little too deep for me, just wanted to say THANKYOU all for such an informative site. I recently got my new pride and joy. A very slightly used 02 X1. 2035 miles. Iam very happy with it and of course am learning alot from all your posts. Belt tension and oils to use, upgrades and hopefully alot of other Buellnuts to converse with and maybe even get to meet on rides. Thanks again from a "newbie to the Buell", I get what yall see in these things. Keep the rubber side down

Hooverrider - there's a group heading your way March 30th to ride the Dragon and then head to TWO for March Badness.

Come on over to Carolina Corner Carvers and introduce yourself. We cover the entire state, but have a few honorary members in VA/SC/TN.

Enjoy your new Uly!

Ok, not sure if this is place for this, so save the flames. Buell.com has updated the Owners section. It allows you to post events and clubs, but is being reviewed and edited before it is posted. I hope both of my submissions make it for the national board.

Has anyone heard about the off road/ motocross line Harley is getting ready to launch. The info was at the Florida dealer show and it seems that the line will be similar to the Honda line of XR and 4 stroke CR models. They are supposed to be developed and built by Buell with the 450cc version being AMA ready to go head to head with the rest of the 4stroke mxr's. This bit of info was leaked at our HOG meeting this past week but we could get no more info than what I have now. If it is a rumor, it is a good one to start. Take away the winter blahs.

Hmmmmm....Harley accomplished their task of lowering wages and taking bene's away from current employees by hiding it under the guise of expanding the motor division...funny how they wanted the same thing out in PA and got their asses handed to them by the employees. But Court didn't see the Milwaukee move as union busting...but I sure as hell did.

Urgent help required please. I have just bought a Buell RS1200 which is in Louisiana.

Problem is, I'm in the UK. I aim to fly over next week and close the deal say Wednesday or Thursday next (14th or 15th Feb).

Does anybody have a reliable crating and international shipping company that they can recommend please?

I believe the place is about 2 hours drive from Houston TX, there should be plenty of shippers there abouts?

Thanks.

Steve.

Congratulations Steve!

I'm not familiar with a local crating or international shipping company, but I'm sure Houston will be chock full of them.

Where exactly in Louisiana? Schedule permitting, and if you are up for it, this may be way too close to forgo meeting up with you. I'm an hour from Shreveport, Louisiana. : )

You might get a better response in the Quick Board.

Steve:

I know the bike if it is the Blue 1991. Drop me a note with the VIN and stuff and I'll start getting some historical information together on the bike.

Also let us know where you are flying into. If you're going to be in NYC, let me know and we'd be pleased to help in anyway we can.

Thanks Court, I'll do as you ask as soon as I have the info. I really need a heads up on a historic bike like the RS1200. The bike is in two smallish pictures in the Gallery at UKBEG in the album "steves muell". Apparently the current owner had it from 1993.

Thanks RT. I may take you up on the offer if I need help.

Hey guys...I would like to ask your help in the choice of a route from Spokane to Kettle Falls...Six of us will be over-nighting the evening of June 19 in Spokane...We want to pick up WA 20 in Kettle Falls and take it west to WA 9 and then north into BC...My specific question is to which road, US 395 or WA 25, would be the better ride?...If 25 to connect to it I was looking at WA 291, then N on WA 231 and then W on Ford Wellpinit, McCoy Lake, W End and Midget Lake roads...Or should I just stay N on WA 231 and take the Springdale-Hunters road over to WA 25?...I noticed that the first route in thru the reservation and wondered if that is a problem or not?...

Thanks,

Bob

Screw all the nay sayers! Ya know what? I'm tired of all the people giving Buell riders sheit! It seems as if no one but other Buell riders appreciate our bikes. Yes, the engine choice is antiquated, but the rest of the engineering is superb! No, our bikes may not do 160, but who really needs to on public roads. I like having something different than every other R1, R6, CBR, and GIXER. Even HD guys don't appreciate our bikes. They give us sheit for not being able to afford a Harley, but ya know what? I want an American bike that can handle the curves too. What ever happened to the "two wheels is two wheels" way of thinking? Forget those riders who can't appreciate some American inginuity. I can afford a Fat Boy, but why would I want a heavy, slow, sled like that? No, I may not be able to crush an R6 or R1, but damn, at least I have something that is different than every other dude on the block. I was recently told by a Triumph dealer that my bike wasn't of any value for trade in because it wasn't sell-able.

Yeah, what he said! I've had my Blast for about four months and I get a lot of crap from people who know I've commuted for 20 years on Sportsters and Gold Wings. I love the sound, the feel and the response of the Buells (rode a XB9R before buying the Blast and it hooked me). They're real road machines. I don't think the engine is antiquated at all. It may not be cutting edge of aluminum-hydroxide cylinder linings and crap like that, but it puts out about 100 horses. That ain't too bad.

OK, I feel better. Happy Valentines, fellow Buellers.

From the national HSTA list server and just in time for the wx we're going to get here in St Louis this week..A little Spring brushup...

1. Assume you’re invisible.

2. Be considerate.

3. Dress for the crash, not the pool or the prom.

4. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

5. Leave your ego at home-The only people who really care if you were faster
on the freeway will be the officer and the judge.

6. Pay Attention.

7. Mirrors only show you part of the picture.

8. Be patient

9. Watch your closing speed-Passing cars at twice their speed or changing
lanes to shoot past a row of stopped cars is just asking for trouble.

10. Beware the verge and the merge.

11. Left-turning cars remain the leading killer of motorcyclists.

12. Beware of cars running traffic lights.

13. Check your mirrors

14. Mind the gap-One second’s worth of distance per 10 mph is the old rule
of thumb. Better still; scan the next 12 seconds ahead for potential
trouble.

15. Beware of tuner cars-They’re quick and their drivers tend to be
aggressive.

16. Excessive entrance speed hurts.

17. Don’t trust that deer whistle.

18. Learn to use both brakes.

19. Keep the front brake covered-always.-Save a single second of reaction
time at 60 mph and you can stop 88 feet shorter. Think about that.

20. Look where you want to go.

21. Keep your eyes moving.

22. Think before you act.-Careful whipping around that Camry going 7 mph in
a 25 mph zone or you could end up with your head in the driver's side door
when he turns into the driveway right in front of you.

23. Raise your gaze-It’s too late to do anything about the 20 feet
immediately in front of your fender, so scan the road far enough ahead to
see trouble and change trajectory.

24. Get your mind right in the driveway-Most accidents happen during the
first 15 minutes of a ride, below 40mph, near an intersection or driveway.

25. Come to a full stop at that next stop sign.

26. Never dive into a gap in stalled traffic.

27. Don’t saddle up more than you can handle-If you weigh 95 pounds, avoid
that 795-pound cruiser. If you’re 5-foot-5, forget those towering
adventure-tourers.

28. Watch for car doors opening in traffic.

29. Don’t get in an intersection rut-Watch for a two-way stop after a string
of four-way intersections.

30. Stay in your comfort zone when you’re with a group-Riding over your head
is a good way to end up in the ditch.

31. Give your eyes some time to adjust-A minute or two of low light heading
from a well-lighted garage onto dark streets is a good thing.

32. Master the slow U-turn-practice.

33. Who put a stop sign at the top of this hill?-Don’t panic. Use the rear
brake to keep from rolling back down. Use Mr. Throttle and Mr. Clutch
normally-and smoothly-to pull away.

34. If it looks slippery, assume it is.

35. Bang! A blowout! Now what?-No sudden moves. The motorcycle isn’t happy,
so be prepared to apply a little calming muscle to maintain course. Ease
back the throttle, brake gingerly with the good wheel and pull over very
smoothly to the shoulder. Big sigh.

36. Drops on the faceshield?-Lightly misted pavement can be slipperier than
when it’s been rinsed by a downpour. Apply maximum level concentration,
caution and smoothness.

37. Emotions in check?-Take inventory every time you saddle up.

38. Wear good gear.

39. Leave the IPOD at home.

40. Learn to swerve.-Be able to do two tight turns in quick succession.
Practice till it becomes a reflex.

41. Be smooth at low speeds.

42. Flashing is good for you-Easy taps on the pedal or lever before stopping
makes your brake light more eye-catching to trailing traffic.

43. Intersections are scary, so hedge your bets.-Put another vehicle between
your bike and the possibility of someone running the stop sign/light and you
cut your chances of getting nailed in half.

44. Tune your peripheral vision.

45. All alone at a light that wont turn green?-Put as much of the bike
directly above the sensor wire or try putting the kick stand down directly
on the wire.

46. Everything is harder to see after dark.

47. Don’t troll next to-or right behind-Mr. Peterbilt.

48. Take the panic out of panic stops. Develop an intimate relationship with
your front brake. Seek out some safe open pavement. Starting slowly, find
that fine line between maximum braking and a locked wheel, and then do it
again, and again.

49. Make your tires right-Check them for spot on pressure and any wear and
tear.

50. Take a deep breath-Count to 10. Forgetting some clown’s 80-mph
indiscretion beats running the risk of ruining your live, or ending it.
