Hill --

I've had a couple or three Dunlaps that have done that -- like you, no joy from the dealer (fair enough, as I mounted two outa the three myself), and Dunlap wanted me to ship the tires to em for inspection (also fair enough, but couldn't be bothered with the shipping and such) --

they lost a customer in me, but I doubt if their balance sheet will suffer overmuch --

let us know how it turns out for you --

Hillbilly,

Here is a blurb from the Dunlop page

http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/infocenter_warrant ies.asp

"FOR REPLACEMENT CONSIDERATION
You should present the tire to the retailer from whom you bought the tire or, if the Dunlop tire in question was fitted as original equipment, to the retailer from whom you bought the motorcycle. With the exception of mail-order tires you may also submit your tire to any other retailer selling Dunlop motorcycle tires.

Should you be unable to contact any of those retailers, please contact the Dunlop Motorcycle Tire Sales office at 1-800-845-8378."

I'd probably jump on that toll free number and start with a customer service rep.

Tell them the dealer is not servicing you and you want a Dunlop field rep to inspect the tires as they appear to be unsafe to ride on.

It is pretty crazy that the dealer that sold you the tires would just fart you off on an issue like this. If Dunlop treats you the same way that is really bad news.

Jack

Thats interesting. I had an experience with a local dealer where they mounted two dunlops in a row where there were "cuts" on the tire.

My suspicion was a freight guy with a sharp knife and dull judgement. But there were two in a row.

Fortunately, I saw both before I put the tire on the street, so the dealer replaced both. They ended up bending my rotor while they were mounting the tire though, so they got me in the end.

(this was not F&S Buell, it was a Cincinnati dealer no longer in the Buell business).

Now I am wondering if they were molding defects or cuts. They looked like cuts, they went parallel to the axle.

They were the stock dunlops on the Cyclone, which I think were D207's. The less sticky one of the D205/D207 pair, I can never remember which was which.

I love my pirelli's now!

FWIW.

first time, bad luck
second time, coincidence
third time, enemy action

[Guys: I have been assembling an eBay Frankenstein Buell [a tubey] and I have a 99 X1 wiring harness. A pair of brown and black wires are marked RFSL and have two female bullet connectors. I have located all other connector hookups but these. Does anyone know what they hook up to? KK]

Therapy:

A husband and wife came for counseling after 15 years of marriage. When asked what the problem was, the wife went into a passionate, painful tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the 15 years they had been married.

She went on and on and on: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved etc...........

Finally, after allowing this to go on for a sufficient length of time, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and, after asking the wife to stand, embraced and kissed her passionately.

The woman shut up and quietly sat down as though in a daze. The therapist turned to the husband and said, "This is what your wife needs every day. Can you do this?"

The husband thought for a moment and replied,.. "Well, I can drop her off here Monday thru Friday, but on the weekends, I ride motorcycles."

Got this in email this morning and thought some of you might like it. Something to think about forwarding to Non-bikers with attitudes!

Subject: Just a Biker

I saw you hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line.

But you didn't see me put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday.

I saw you pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk.

But you didn't see me playing Santa at the local mall .

I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant.

But you didn't see me attending a meeting to raise more money for the

hurricane relief.

I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I drove by.

But you didn't see me driving behind you when you flicked your cigarette

butt out the car window.

I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children.

But you didn't see me when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless.

I saw you stare at my long hair.

But you didn't see me and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love.

I saw you roll your eyes at our leather coats and gloves.

But you didn't see me and my brothers donate our old coats and gloves to

those that had none.

I saw you look in fright at my tattoos.

But you didn't see me cry as my children were born and having their name

tattooed on my skin and in my heart.

I saw you change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere.

But you didn't see me going home to be with my family.

I saw you complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be.

But you didn't see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane.

I saw you yelling at your kids in the car.

But you didn't see me pat my child's hands knowing he was safe behind me.

I saw you reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road.

But you didn't see me squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn.

I saw you race down the road in the rain.

But you didn't see me get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date.

I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time.

But you didn't see me trying to turn right.

I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in.

But you didn't see me leave the road.

I saw you waiting impatiently for my friends to pass.

But you didn't see me. I wasn't there.

I saw you go home to your family.

But you didn't see me because I didn't go home that day that you cut me off.

I was just a biker, and a person, with friends and a family.

But, you didn't see me.

Hello all. On tuesday I picked up my 07 xb12s. Its great. I was just wondering if the rear tail section bodywork from the firebolt fits on the xb12. Or will I have to change the subframe to accomodate the new rear tail section? Thanks. GG

Got to help a fellow Bueller yesterday. I was taking the family to downtown Minneapolis to see the Nutcracker. Needless to say I wasn't going to be in attendance.
A few miles south of downtown I passed a guy on the side of the I-35 with a white 9R on a trailer that had a flat. Since we were running late I couldn't stop then.
On the way back, 1/2 hr. later, he was still there. I turned around at the next exit and came back to where he was parked.
He had a spare and a jack, just the wrong wrench for the trailer lugnuts. Since I'd been in that position before I always carry a 4-way wrench with me. He'd been down to Deal's Gap (it rained the whole time he said) and was five miles from home when he had the flat.
He wasn't a Badwebber, but I hope I planted the seed. His name escapes me but maybe we'll run into each other again someday.

I'm not exactly sure where to post this question so someone tell me where to go: I read in Sport Rider that they loved the handling of the Firebolt but hated the "Flywheel effect" of the engine that made them do extra shifting in corners to keep from having to use the throttle so much. I thought the Buells were designed so you didn't have to rock through the gears all the time.

What is this flywheel effect and what does it do and why is that Sport Rider says there's nothing to do about it so you just deal with it?

Don't forget the annual ASBN Birthday Party on Monday, December 4th, at 6:00 PM at the Straw Hat Pizza Parlor in San Leandro. We're embarking on our ninth year of ASBN without ever missing a "First Monday of the Month" This has been at Hooligan's, The Firehouse Grill, Coco's, (for two months) and now at the Straw Hat Pizza Parlor where we've been meeting for over three maybe four years.
There is rumor that the location of ASBN might be due for a change, and one location that has been presented is Dick's Restaurant on Alvarado Avenue in San Leandro, less than a mile (about four minutes away) from where the Straw Hat is. If you are in the area, pleas stop by Dick's Restaurant at 3188 Alvarado St San Leandro, CA 94577
(510) 357-5639 http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=dicks+res taurant+san+leandro
Take a look at the "back room" and see if the menu is what you'd like, and know that there won't be delivered meals, you'll have to get dinner in the restaurant and carry it back (through the full-service cocktail lounge I might add) to the meeting. The First Monday of the month would be the meeting date, keeping with years, almost a decade of tradition, so if you're in the area, please stop by and on December 4th, we'll see what kind of response we get at the big party.

Don't forget too, that Vallejo Buell has donated a $1,000.00 certificate towards the cost of a new Buell at Vallejo Buell for the first lucky winner in our birthday raffle. We're still soliciting donations for the raffle as well, so if you can donate, please consider doing so.
and Don't forget American Sport Bike, Al LIghtin will be there too. If you were wanting to purchase something, now might be a good time. If Al is coming up anyway, I am sure he could bring the item or items you are wanting up with him, saving you shipping costs? Give him a shout over at American Sport Bike

Vik will also be there talking about track days, Reg will be there to enlighten us with his wisdom, and I am sure there will be more!

MPG....Huh?

I've been reading Buell literature for the 2007 bikes and for every single one the city mpg is significantly higher than the highway mpg. On the HD side, it's the exact opposite.
I understand that my Blast is at its peak doing 70-75 and I would expect less mpg but is there something with the gearing of Buells that they uniformly get better city than highway mileage? Or is it all a misprint?
