Vik:

We were last out there for the Spring race at the Point.

Sounds like they have made some great improvements.

Have a good weekend.

Our driver missed his line in Qualifying last night, so we get to start 42nd.

Should be an interesting evening.

Stay on Touch

Tom

Vik.

Did someone forget to pay the electric bill over on SacBorg?

The lights are out.

It seems the domain name has expired.

Yep, that would be me. I didn't see the reminder notice come in and when I checked this morning, it looks like someone already paid for an extension.

I don't think I've lost the domain. Alan may have paid the bill.

A couple of general questions: My wife needs a back rest for our 2002 Cyclone. Anyone got a used one? Where could I find one reasonable?

May consider trading my cherry ride for a late model Triumph Bonneville. penick@nettally.com

as a side note,

I now really know what it means to take a street tire to the edge.

No chicken strips after this past friday, on the front or the rear. The Sportecs took a beating and faired fairly well on the track. Well up to the last two laps of the final session.

Got some interesting info today:

The Harley Davidson Foundation has donated a 2006 Buell Ulysses to the American Red Cross - Morgan Freeman Auction for Hurricane Katrina Relief. Morgan Freeman is from the effected area and created the auction to help raise funds for American Red Cross efforts. The black Ulysses comes with a limited edition windscreen signed by Erik Buell. The auction is located at the following address:

https://www01.charityfolks.com/cfauctions/auction_bid.asp?AuctionID=1407&catname =The%20American%20Red%20Cross%20Disaster%20Relief%20Auction

The Ulysses auction concludes 9/21/05. 100% of the winning auction bid will be donated to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, which will enable the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling, and other assistant to victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Just passing along info,

Hey BluzM2-
I haven't heard back about this weekend yet (but I see they are forecasting rain for Sat. now).
I also mentioned it to Madduck to see if he was interested.

Dualsport,
Jerry/Ferris is on his cross country jaunt on one and he and others are posting reports along the way. He's probably got 3-4,000 miles on that one already. Several others are easily over the 1,000 mile mark already. The latest rumor I heard on the low seat is "soon".

Mike,
I sent you a note yesterday evening.
Not sure why you didn't get it.
My plans for the weekend are shakey at best.
My M2 is down for the count, the S2 needs final reassembly after installation of the new alternator.
I was hoping to finish it up last night but that didn't happen.
I'm hoping for tonight....

Brad

Thanks for the update.

The "low" seat would seem to be the solution for those of us that are vertically challenged.

Having owned my 99X1 for quite a while now, I recently had to buy some parts for my 2003 Suzuki SV1000s. In the past, I thought Buell parts (and HD in general) could stand with some improvement - but yesterday picked up 5 plastic rivets at the Suzuki dealership - $13.75! The gear shift lever plastic bushing (similar to the Buell's) is not available seperately - the whole shift lever assembly has to be replaced. When I purchased an aftermarket (Cycle Electric) replacement stator for my Buell, (~$130 CDN), the parts guy mentioned a used Japanese stator from a cycle scrap yard goes for double that. Check www.ronayers.com for common parts prices - Suzuki ECM $750, I bought a spare ECM for my Buell from eBay for $10! The Suzuki forums also mention putting Buell pegs on (1" lower), and M2 chin fairings on the naked SVs - both are cheaper from Buell.
I never thought of my X1 as cost effective transport, but as it gets double the MPG of my Suzuki and parts are readily available, maybe it is.

I bought a big grade 8 bolt for an engine mount on my Yamaha... for $18. Same part at home depot? $1.

A right rear turn signal for that same Yamaha was $50.

Neither were in stock at any of several dealers I tried.

I need some type of back rest for my passenger. Not really to lean on but to feel safer. I've seen the Ventura Pak Rack for $150 but would prefer to spend less. Anyone have something or some other ideas? penick'at'nettally.com or 850 877 9959

Talked to Brian Cessna (stingaroo here on the board) a bit ago, he's currently in Jackson Co, just south of New Orleans. He's there with the PA National Guard, they're doing a ton of cleanup work and doing well other than the heat and bugs. He doesn't have an idea when they will be headed back. Says it's real nice to be helping people out.

So Brian says hey, can't wait to ride with you all. Keep our soldiers in your thoughts, both those overseas and stateside.
