Question: Is the flyscreen from a M2 and a Blast the same?

Answer: Nope, they are different. The Blast! isn't as wide as the M2 near the top. The Blast! flyscreen gets narrower towards the top while the M2 is a more consistent width from bottom to top. Not sure if the mounting points between the two are in the same location or not (i.e. not sure if they are directly swappable between the two). I would think someone must have tried this by now, but I can't recall seeing it.

Okay guys, I'm new to Buell so please have patience, was always a rice guy. I have an issue/question...just bought a new 1125R, 7 miles on it, I thought there was something wrong with it because at 3,000 to 4,000 rpms the bike feels like it is bogging down a bit. Sort of like when a plug is fouled. Anyway the dealer picked it up and checked it out for 2 days and they said no problem. They said it will get better through the break in period. Has anyone experienced the same??

Normal.

Ride it hard, try to put it away dry.

After ~5,000 s'miles, you'll have to pry my cold dead fingers off the bars to get mine away from me!

Welcome to the clan.

Thanks Neil, so that feeling will go away?? Right now it's driving me bonkers! Thinking it's not right, bad gas, what the heck...

Above 4k rpms the bike is sweet, can't go above 6k yet so, handles awesome though...

Keith:

I played with mine hard between 4 and 6k rpm. It is a blast! Just watch out cause the front end can get REAL light REAL fast.

I am a firm believer that exercising the engine in that range and then closing the throttle and let the engine braking slow you down is the best way to seat the rings. Key is to close the throttle when you reach that rpm and coast down to 4500 or so rpm and then DO IT AGAIN!

I just did a quick hop to get some gas and that feeling running 1st to about 55mph (WFO) is FANTASTIC. (You will be able to do that soon enough.)

P.S. wipe that grin off your face, otherwise people might think you are having TOO much fun.

Heh Bros! Got a question about my starter solenoid. I have a broken Return spring that fits on the Plunger shaft(see HD manual section 5 diagrams) and that is all I need to get it running again. Where can I find just this part alone? Thanks!

Flip the two halves of the broken spring end for end so the flat ground ends are together and reinstall and forget about it.

Hey Guys! I'm thinking about making a run to Sturgis in 2010. A couple of guys at work have been trying to convince me to go, the only thing is, my bike! I have a 2001 X1 Lightning. I live just outside of Seattle and the farthest I have gone was to Spokane. Do you think I'm crazy? I think I could do it....any thoughts?

The company that I work for, has for many years provided motorcycle/motor scooter specific parking areas. These designated areas usually accommodate 4-6 two wheelers and also have a large steel plate embedded in the asphalt for kickstand usage. Well, it seems that some 4 wheeled commuters have complained that the motorcycle designated areas tend to be closer to the buildings than parking areas for cars. "Life's just not fair" as the story goes. So, as an apparent 'mea culpa' to the cagers my company plans on eliminating designated motorcycle parking areas.

I'd really like to hear from forum members that work for a companies that: provide motorcycle designated parking areas, provides encouragement and/or perks to those that use energy efficient transportation to commute, have any tales that are related to this subject.

Help! as I plan on waging a fight to stop the planned action

Well, I work for myself and can park my bike about 10 feet from where my desk is. But, I have some thoughts on it all the same: There are some times when civil disobedience is the best recourse. Get a bunch of bike riders to consistently show up first, and each of you take up a full car space, nearest the building. Do it long enough and something will change, right? Writing letters to the company can help, pointing out the relative mileage differences, perhaps adding up all the bikes and calculating how much fuel/pollution/CO2 footprint etc is saved by riding a bike to work, that kind of thing. You could always do what they did in Portland, Boulder, and Asheville and ride to work naked...(they did it on bicycles!)Well, maybe not. Stick with taking up car spots!

I bet they are the same people that want to do away with handycapped parking 2.

And they drive SUV's.

The company should tell them to get over it.

I would think the parking area closer to the building is a safety and liability issue for the company. If your had you park in their lot in a regular car space and your bike's stand went through the pavement and fell over on a car the company would be liable. Why? because they did at one time provide proper parking for motorcycles and then removed it.

Tell them to talk with there lawyers before they remove them and be sure to give them an example to think about.

As far as being closer to the building, I would think that cuts down on potential vandalism and accidental knock downs, an all the bikes in one place and easy to see thing.

We have several designated MC areas, all closer than the other spots. I don't know that there have ever been any complaints from the cagers. You'd think the company could keep the status quo based on the efficiency of having MCs together and the reduction of the surface being damaged by kickstands. Hopefully logic will win out. Good Luck!

Does anyone know what the rules are regarding Maryland state motorcycle inspection? I live in MD, and finding a used Firebolt has been really friggin hard around here. I've found them outta state but my dad tells me it will be a pain and much time and money to get it legal in Maryland. Anyone know?

MD state inspection is a one-shot inspection. You get inspected when you purchase/tag for the first time and that's it, so it's pretty intensive.

Reflectors - front side, rear side, rear
Lights - head (hi/lo), tail, brake, turn signals front and rear, tag
Tire tread
Brake pads
No "vital fluid" leaks - brake fluid, forks, massive oil leaks (weeping is passable)
Hand controls in operable condition - throttle self-closes, levers work, etc.
Minimum 2 mile test ride with no problems

I think there are more but those are the major ones.

I'd have to check and see if they still have it but our other store in Hagerstown has had a used 12R in stock. www.hdoffrederick.com, the stock number should start with a W to denote Williamsport. I've been out for the better part of a week, so it may be sold already....but check and see. I can always bring it down to Frederick if that's easier for you and you'd like to see it, I'm back at work on Friday : )

Oh, and if we've got it for sale...it's already inspected : )

I just saw this announcement:

YORK, Pa. (AP) -- Harley-Davidson Inc. is laying off workers at its plant in York County.

Harley spokesman Bob Klein says the plant has begun layoffs as part of a plan to cut about 730 workers companywide.

Nearly 300 workers are scheduled to be cut from the plant in Springettsbury Township. The layoffs will continue in stages throughout the summer.

Business representative Tom Boger of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 175 says the union will check to make sure workers are laid off according to seniority.

The Manufacturers' Association of South Central Pennsylvania plans a worker-placement effort for the laid-off Harley employees.

Hey I have a quick question about a website. Does anyone know about 'meebo.com'? My daughter is dieing to get AIM (AOL Instant Messaging) to talk with her friends and I will not let AOL get near another computer of mine again, EVER!!!! She said you used this site and AOL didn't download onto your computer yet she would still be able to access AIM through the site.

Any information would be a great help, thanks.

Xbduck: There are several multi-chat programs out there that you can use to chat on AIM without downloading any AOL software. Two free ones that I know of and use are Trillian and Pidgin. You can set them up to chat on AIM, Yahoo messenger, MSN, and ICQ; just one or all at the same time. Only hitch is that you have to have a screenname and password already set up with whichever IM service(s) you want to use (I think you can sign up on AIM through AOL.com w/o actually downloading the software). Feel free to PM me if you need more info : )
