Bobby Pickersgill Yes, a tube frame Buell with a 100hp 1203cc engine sounds very similar to an XR750 racer.
I owned a 67 BSA 441 with shorty exhaust and ridden a Blast before. Okay, you upgraded your single cylinder from 27 hp to maybe 50. Good job

Ed Zick BP - if I went with the XBRR top end I could make that 75 rear wheel - lol - and on a bike barely 300lbs - that means unlimited fun - even at the level it is at now - it's kicking nicely - and I had an 1125 for 5 years - I know what fast is.

Ed Zick That header was given to me by Terry Parsley after he went to 650cc on his Blast - it is stepped and tuned for this configuration with some suppertrapp discs to mellow the sound.

Ed Zick Oh - on a historical note - the Blast dirttrackers from HD where running XR750 top ends, cams, carbs and headers - and though no good for the street they got between 60 to 70 hp per Henry Duga.

Except for one hole and bolt - done- spent time looking for the appropriate spacer. Galfer brake line added to keep it simple for installation. Scratch that off the to do list - rear sets custom made using stock Buell parts for 90 percent of the build - not all of the Buell parts are Blast though - lol

All finished up with cap bolts finishing off mounting bolts making foot contact a non-issue. On to the rest of the front end, then shock, then muffler and intake and carb, then paint and niceties.

Thank you -
Cleaned up and changed out the handlebar area -

New bars, grips, levers, mirrors, almost forgot how much changing out a set of grips will pump you up - lol -
Most would be done at this point - not I! Tonight I begged some welding help from Lee to restore the old Bub pipe - in 20,000 miles of SF curb hopping, pot holes, and tracks/rails - a hole busted open where a weld used to be on the rear tab, and a crack just in front of the front tab weld - all better now - the old warhorse will sound again!!!!

It looks like a front fender will not fit after installing the SuperBrace?

Over sized tire - 110/90 - our regular choice in tires would not have that issue. Will tell nephew to reinstall brace with new front tire installed - fender raised for this tire.

Exactly which DNM Shock did you install?

Do you have a web site link?

How much did it affect the height of the Blast?

Thanks.

LOL - my nephew Asa picked up his bike -

Then -

A funny thing happened the other day, and I've just now got it wrapped up about what to do - I was riding with the nephew to go have coffee and came across an orange and green bagger that tried to ditch us at a light - my catching up to him had his carb coughing, and I passed him then he turned, thought nothing of it. Had coffee and headed back home. A quiet pop issued from the motor and the bike stopped working. Checked the intake - good, then checked plug wire - plug extremely loose, tightened down and still nothing - the motor free spinning as if no compression. Towed home - God bless AAA - got home and pulled the plug. Threads a tad rough from vibrating loose - but on, off, on again showed the majority of the thread to still be sealing and good, and the plug itself was a perfect medium tan - tune was perfect - so not the cause either. The valves & stems being Ti almost rules them out, ruled out head gasket because of no hemorrhaging of oil, leaves only failed rings from the richness of the tune - or something like a guide failed and holed the piston - happened before in life. My friends are like just get the other bike going and worry about that later, however, the parts that Vader may need for the rebuild directly affects which parts I put into the other bike - including the ignition, which is what is needed to make the other bike work. So I've been thinking about this and will first start with a tear down of Vader - to find the issue, and from there I can decide, what parts will go to the other bike. Sigh.....

Failed valve spring retainer? You have probably bent the valve and marked the piston. If you're lucky, the guide is okay and you can just pop in a new valve and a new spring retainer (replace both). Some are really "race only" and don't, from what I've heard (and experienced), last long (if you using high rate springs).
Just an idea.
It snowed here again. Just when everything had almost thawed enough to ride : (

I know that I haven’t been communicative lately; however, it is because life has kept me rather busy. Between a planned Ch13, being dis-abled, visiting an old friend and his new bride, the Master shower needing re-grouting and caulking, and Vader needing a rebuild, and the new Starkiller needing building, and the new puppy who has health issues to overcome - making 3 dogs in all, house maintenance as well – all of this has made me rather net-negligent – not purposely, but because I literally have had very little time to do the sitting down-type tasks that I enjoy. I’m working on a good balance to be achieved, but at this point things are still a bit hectic. I’m still Blasting away, just too busy to get to the bikes at this point, and believe me I want to – lol

Eh - the Buells more fun, however, I'll spiff it a bit then pass it on. It sits almost as relaxed as a Blast, same weight, but with the charge of the CR but with an even lighter front end - thus my first mod for the bike arrived before the bike - a radial dampener mounting off the handlebars. If the CR needed it, then this as well. Since I'm used to those shinanigans - no big deal. Got the suspension dialed in as good as it will get for me - it's ok - got to hold it in the corner though - alot like a Buell I know well - it has great gas mileage!
