Back in the day I remember some Pirelli rear tire as being 'the' upgrade to produce longer life out of a rear, but have no details on the 'flavor' of the Pirelli.

What's the chosen rear tire (including size) for longevity nowadays?

A colleague who rides a Blast is asking me, and for once I can't answer a Buell question...

Thanks!

Not the MT75. The ST66 is the Pirelli for long life rears.

I have 5k on my MT75, and they are still looking good. Just saying.

The ST66 will double that.

Wow! 5000 miles! I love the MT75, but it's not the mileage tire (except on the front). You've done well with it!

When going to the larger proper tire sizes, any issues with the speedo being off? The sensor is in the transmission, not on the wheel itself...

Note - for those interested in great lighting, a unique look, and weight reduction - this fairing when originally designed by a guy in Texas - he charged over 900 bucks - and all he did was rework an Acerbis fairing with a great idea. I told him that was way too much and that the Chinese would copy that puppy in a heart beat, and charge 800 less - actually almost 870 less - he didn't listen and sure enough - voila! - they did - this puppy is way bright - got one for my nephews project bike and I'm letting you know it's out there so you can enjoy a really cool item as well.

Damn thing comes with a fan to keep things cool and that strapping system is easy to cinch up tight using a few ziplock ties. Guys and gals - it doesn't get any cooler than this! Enjoy!

Really needing some 2 wheeled therapy. Sincerely thinking I should just sell this bike and get a new one. I've worked on it more than I've actually gotten to ride it. Replaced about everything that I can think of to get it running and it still just sits there mocking me.

Not to insult, but I think you need a better mechanic. They aren't that complicated. But sometimes it is best to cut your losses, especially if you've lost faith.

LOL, I probably do need a better mechanic since I've done most of the work myself. Mainly been trying to diagnose it from you and EZ's suggestions.

What's up with the bike - I miss something - break it down here - I'm sure it's something simple.

2002 model. Would run for a mile or so then die. Started out with clearing the gas tank then running sea foam through it. Replaced the intake boot. It would start, but still sounded like it wasn't getting any gas. Pull the throttle and it would die. Replaced the spark plug, wire, even got a 2nd new boot. Now it won't even start up. Frustrating.

Has it ever run or did you buy it this way?

It ran when I first got it but after about 600 miles it started to act up. It acts like it won't start like it isn't getting gas. I bought an inline fuel filter with a glass bowl so I could physically see that it was getting gas. When trying to start it, I can see the gas spraying in the carb when I pull the throttle.

Holy crap that headlight is awesome.

Trying to imagine how the headlight would look on an otherwise stock blast.

Jardine header for Blast is p/n 00-200-00742, around $56 from Jardine/SuperTrapp. I called the number from their web site.

First time query.

I bought a 09 buell blast. I know the bike and love it.
1700kms. 1100 miles.
But I
Lost power one day and it stopped.
Waited for a few minutes.
Started for 30 secs and stopped.
A couple more tries.
Then no start at all.

Replaced the battery new HD.
Started right up.
Rode a few Kms home.
Same thing next day.
One try and it ran for 30 seconds and stopped.

Replaced the Muffler.
New Gasket. Ring & Flange.
Started for 30 secs and stopped.

Replaced the Plug with Iridium.
Changed the Oil. Amsoil Synth Moto 20/50.

Replaced the Carb Manifold Intake. Coupler.
Replaced Carb Needle & Spring.
Re jetted...

It Started for 20 secs & Stopped………

I'm out of ideas.
It has gas ; -)
thanks

Help guys:
3655;2001 buell blast-

I was riding and ran out of gas. Midway thru coasting i hit the reserve and made it to the gas station and filled up my gas tank, i tried to start it but it wont. It just sounds...dry? Itll try to start and the starter sounds like its working very fast. I have checked for spark. Theres spark. I cleaned the carb and jets with carb cleaner. When the bowl is unscrewed each time, there is always gas in it.there is fuel in the fuel line. When i spray carb starter into the carb my bike starts to thump one or two times then it coughs out and dies. Please help!

Sorry you went through all that unneeded work marks blast, it's sounds like a bad safety switch. The first think to check is spark-at the LED on the ignition module and at the spark plug, if the LED flashes.

DylanBlast: if it's turning over very fast, it's likely you've lost compression. You could test that with a finger and if you feel any compression, use a compression tester.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE always avoid the "shotgun" approach to repairs-replacing things until it's fixed. Most problems have specific indicators to where the trouble lies. You almost invariably complicate diagnosis by replacing unneeded parts. Research first.

And for the love of God, do not take the carb apart "to give it a good cleaning" and if someone tells you to do that, RUN!!! They have no idea what's wrong with your bike and they're hoping that fixes it (and hoping you don't call them when your troubles multiply) !!: (

Thanks for the info Gear & Dylan.

These Mods or upgrades, I had set up for me to do anyway.
Before the stopping issue came up.

After all, the bike has really not been ridden. Much.
Everything is super clean inside.
So the stopping issue can not be That serious.
You would think ; -).

I will look up the safety switch, and compression.
Hope fully it's something simple.
Thanks ever so much to all for the help.
