So how do I know if I have the tall or short seat?

Ccahdvm: Does it look like a dirtbike seat with a straight line from the back to the front, or a cruiser seat with a big step down in the middle?

There's no mistaking them for each other.

This is the low seat. If you don't have the cutout, you have the high seat.

Thanks Syonyk - I do have the high seat, which is good because my 6'2" son is planning on riding it as a starter bike until he's comfortable enough (and can afford) his own.

I'm 6'0" and comfortable on ours with the high seat. The low seat is a lot less comfortable for me. If anything, I'd actually like the high seat to be harder. I sink in a bit.

The really fun thing about the Blast is that you can easily upgrade it as the rider gets better. As pictured, our started *bone stock* - nothing done to it other than 3k miles put on it.

It's currently nothing of the sort. Lightning mirrors, handguards, Dan's intake, Jardine exhaust, crap stripped off, carb rejetted and shimmed...

And I happen to enjoy riding it just as much as my 1125 - more in town, as a matter of fact. It's just a great bike, and at this point, I can honestly say that I don't feel it needs more power. It has enough. Not insane levels, but enough to do anything I want, and to have an awful lot of fun with.

How much was Dan's intake and super boot combo? I've see it on ebay before but I don't recall how much he wants for them.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/danscustomparts/m.html?_nk w=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

Looks like $265 shipped for the full kit.

I didn't buy it all at once, so I'm not actually sure what I paid. I got the SuperBoot initially, then a custom setup for the second wave with everything but the boot (and a bit of custom work he was willing to do).

If you're going to hang the carb off the engine without the airbox holding the other side up, the superboot is a great idea. Otherwise, you could fabricate some supports. I've had no trouble at all with the superboot holding things up, and I actually love the fact that I can just rotate the carb slightly to change jets. It literally takes me 10 minutes to swap out both jets, and that counts the time idling with the fuel off to drain the carb bowl (if you let it idle until it does, you can pull the bowl off without spilling a drop of fuel).

It's well worth it, but if you're looking for power, the exhaust is the place to start. Boring out the airbox a bit plus an exhaust is a good start.

Dan's also great to work with. He's quite willing to help out with information on his products, and is just an awesome seller of Buell Blast parts.

Yeah I already have an exhaust so I was just wondering about the superboot/intake combo. I know that the carb needs more support so that is why I ask. Back in the day when i had my old blast, I had to pro-series intake but this looks a little more well made.

Contact Dan by PM, I think he goes by Thump-E on here. If I'm not mistaken he will cut you a deal on the SuperBoot/Intake Combo if you mention you're a BadWeb Thumper. And the SuperBrace...HUGE difference on handling in the twisties.

Sorry, but we dont post pictures (or discuss) non Buell motorcycles on the front page. (if you do, I'll say bad things about it). It has been moved to the "Blastphemy" section (where I've promised not to say bad things).

Its like the 1970's all over again : (

Hm. I may have to order one then. : )

Is there a way to spring a Blast somewhere in the middle between a 120 lb rider and a 250lb rider? Right now, I can definitely tell it's soft when I try to push it.

That's about as much of a Blast is as the Mac Motorcycles are...

Blast-derived, perhaps.

<.<

That said, I still want it. : D

Speaking of, has anyone heard anything out of Mac Motorcycles recently?

Found a quick fix for my sagging foot pegs. Took them off & welded a fine bead along the worn edges with my wire feed welder. Minimal grinding smooth and they stand up straight like they're supposed to! We'll see how long it lasts.

Thanks for all the feedback on blleding/replaceing the brake fluid on the blast. Erik touched on the heart of the real question and the front brake. From the forum, I'd seen that cracking the front brake often results in difficulty getting it back.

I concur that flushing is going to run dirty fluid one way or the other regardless of which way and that the caliper is probably less susceptible than the Master Cylinder, but...

I wondered if flushing from the bottom up instead of top down might result in less chance of loosing everything on the front.

Cheers. RobertG

So I'm figuring out that an original Blast front fairing is a little hard to come by on the used market - I've checked here/Ebay/Buellparts/Buellster/etc. I've not checked for new at the dealers yet, and I've only browsed all these sites so far, haven't made any phone calls. Any reason they're scarce or am I not looking in the right place yet? I wouldn't think they would be more likely to get banged up than some other body parts that I'm finding pretty frequently. I'm patient and looking if anyone knows of a source I'm missing. My Blast is yellow, but I'm considering yellow or black.

They get scraped up on a lowside because there's so much steering angle available.

Check your dealership. You'll probably just have to pay retail.

Yeah, that makes sense. I'll keep watching for used - I also need a left side air box cover, so if I can't find a source to pick up both at the same time, I'll save up my pennies and spring for a new fairing. Anyone gonna' make fun of me if I put a black fairing on a yellow bike? I've taken some grief about my new bumblebee - I think I'll not add to it by putting a yellow fairing back on it.

Well, I put a Black fairing on with a large yellow 'racing' stripe on my yellow Blast. But yellow looks better and more importantly, WILL GET YOU SEEN. That might not seem important now, but will after you wake up in the hospital.

FWIW: Black is the most popular colour and in high demand. I cant count how many times someone has wanted to trade their yellow for black bodywork. Someone here just recently painted his yellow Blast black, and thats not the first time.
Yellow will come up on ebay, you just have to wait and I can almost guarantee you wont have to wait long. If you dont mind scratched, you'll have to wait less.
The airbox will also appear, if its not already for sale here.
