Yesterday I changed out the horn on my Blast. Straight swap for a new OEM horn. Everything was working OK until this PM. I tried to go for a ride and found that:

1) Horn not working.
2) Turn signals not working.
I checked the wiring at the LH control switch. Hi-Beam working, Headlight flasher working. I could not see any issues w/the wiring for the horn or the turn signals.
Checked connections & horn and turn signals - All OK.
Checked fuses - All OK.
Question: Could the flasher relay beside the battery be the culprit?
Anyone have any other ideas as to what is causing these problems?

No idea except for tracing the power and seeing where it stops.

Thanks guys. I checked all the fuses and I think I have it narrowed down to the "flasher relay". I checked the manual as well. It was not much help. I gonna run a check on the power supply to the LH switchgear, horn and relay. Then I will probably admit defeat and take it to someone who knows what they are doing.

You'll find the problem. You can pull the horn off and direct wire it to the battery (or run 2 leads down to it) and make sure it actually works.

Use a test light, not a meter. Thats my standard advice and I dont know if it applies to you. A test light will tell you what you need to know. A meter might look impressive, but watching that needle bounce back and forth is pointless and distracting. Light on or off=simple (and you dont need to be looking directly at it).

Simples is best as far as I am concerned. Finances dictate a wait of a week or two before I go at the problem. I have the X1 to tool around on in the meantime. If/when I get it fixed I'll try to remember to write up what I did.

Fixed it! problems were Flasher relay. Rear light sub-harness short and rear light short. I don't know how but I managed to "pop" just about every fuse whilst I was tracing the faults. In short, replaced flasher relay. Replaced rear sub-harness. Replaced rear light. (I also replaced all of the fuses I blew). I am currently charging the battery as I managed to run that flat as well. I know it will start/run OK tomorrow. 3 out of 4 indicators/flashers work. I need to replace the 4th one as it is kaput.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. The test light led me to the solution. Since my last post I managed to resurrect the broken turn signal. I just got back from test riding it and everything seems to be good.
