Ok stupid question.

Would I benefit from a super boot with a stock setup? Just wondering.

Yes and no. It is (although there hasnt been any real long term testing) more durable and less prone to cracking than the stock boot. However, a stock set up is the most reliable intake set up and not subject to the added stresses when the stock airbox is removed.

Yes and YES. IF adding it to the most reliable intake make's it an even more reliable intake. These boots still fail on the stock setup.

My point is do you want to spend $40 to solve a problem you dont have and may never have? (New boot is $12 or less, fwiw).
Do I believe its a good product-yes. Would I spend $40 on one-probably (but I doubt I'll get a deal after this post LOL!).$40 (for me at least) isnt a lot to gamble on.
However, I REFUSE to perpetuate the "All boots will fail" sooner rather than later paranoia.
Unfortunately, I've been through many different HD intake clamps, always toted as 'the hot setup'. Stock worked the best and many expensive clamps failed, sooner rather than later. I've also been through many other 'non stock' parts and learned factory is usually the most reliable. So I'm skeptical. Thats why I posted "there hasnt been any real long term testing". I've also only had one boot fail after some very rough roads, on a Pro Series Intake, on an original boot with 14,000 miles on it. I've had plenty of backfires through the carb and I've never blown the carb off or split a boot. The raceBlast has also never had a boot failure.

That one boot that failed on you. What part of the boot failed when it broke?

This is my new test filter all together with carb, splitter, filter and a 2 1/2 pound barbell weight is 5 lb.2 oz.hanging off my boot an with no supports on the carb.
I'm going to run this till the boot fails or doesn't. I figured nobody is going to test it like me.
I started this test at 5210 miles this test is for my SuperBoot and my new aluminum splitter to see if it is really super or not.
I got over 3600 mile last season on my bike i got in late spring so i'm looking to get over 5000 this year having an earlier start this year.
I put the first 44 miles on it yesterday and i'll keep posting updates here as i go.

*Not saying you have a bad product*
Failed right in the middle, as would be expected. The bike still ran (and got great mpg of course!), it just began a lean condition.
Hey, I'm not saying your boot is going to fail. I'm not saying its overpriced, or not tested, or a bad design. Is it better that running an unsupported carb, most definitely. You just dont have 10k-20k miles on one yet or more miles than mine or many other boots that have lasted. Many non-factory parts fail from vibration (directly or indirectly).

I again refuse to perpetuate the myth that all boots will fail. This is the internet and undoubtedly (as they already do) the posts will come from 'newbies' and 'wannabees' saying that they've heard the Blast has all kinds of intake problems (or insert any other problem here) and is very unreliable. Not true.

Erik, I know your not knocking my product i'm just showing what i'm doing to test it an what i have in it.
Hopefully by next year i'll have 10k or more on my test filter an pass my last test of longevity.
I use OEM#27443-00Y slightly modified boot with my clamp not a piece of hose and the clamp is 10x stronger then a regular hose clamps they use on the stock boot. Plus regular hose clamps dig into the boot even if slightly over tightened damaging the boot.
My clamp will never dig in an damage the boot it totally encases the boot can not flex in the middle like stock boot an split.
It takes the load off the middle of the boot an splits the load to both ends of the boot making it able to handle twice the load.

Count me in as a tester too, Dan. I plan on getting 10K miles in this year. I could see when I installed it how it will not only clamp, but support the boot fully. I agree with you on the hose clamps, mine always cut into my boots. I never had a boot fail, but replaced them periodically. All had cuts and cracks in the rubber. Failure was probably a matter of time.
