Charlie: Denise pulled this shirt from the Porterville Rally out of our closet a bit ago so I could photograph it:

This small, slightly road-weary tribute to Joe Boyd still resides in a place of honor on her 'Stich:

Jim hasn't changed a bit over all the years I've known him too. I saw him in Franklin over Memorial Day weekend.

Yep, he's a true gentleman, and the riding fire still burns:

Had the weather been a little nicer this would've been our view from this spot:

Good times, epic day.

Not long after the above stop we finally broke out of the muck and mire when we entered the weather shadow of Mount Rainier, the east side of the volcano.

We traded sloppy wet for bitter cold (I ribbed Gentleman Jim about plugging in his heated gear - you can see how inappropriately I was dressed for fog, rain, wet roads and cold - and he said, "OK, for you, I won't turn it on!" And then promptly reached for the 'stat and cranked 'er up to broil.......bitch.......)

This is the back (northeast) side of Mount Rainier, called "Sunrise." This is just before the pavement ends, a tick over 6000 feet, approaching the tree line, and it is absolutely frikkin' freezing:

We both spent all day on the road, literally from sunup to sundown, much of it in less-than-ideal conditions, some of it spent with me in front of the fire at Paradise Lodge trying to dry out and warm up.

I know I speak for Gentleman Jim when I say: We'd do it again in a heartbeat.

PACBOG's first-ever group ride, late '96, to Seattle International Raceway to cheer on Scott Moon (center):

This was most of the Buells in Washington State (and one from Oregon, second from left - hi Jeremy!) at that time. There's Gentleman Jim again, third from left.

Reg Kitrelle used this photo in several issues of Thunder Press to promote Blue Groove/Northwest:

I shot multiple closer-up photos but wasn't getting the look I wanted, so I hiked my camera about a hundred yards down the dragstrip, laid it on the centerline, maxed the zoom, and had the daughter of one the members push the button multiple times while I tried to get everyone to wave like they actually meant it.

That photo above reminds me of me traveling down to the WVBR a couple of years ago.

Something must be happening as I get older because I just bought a tow behind trailer for the S3T so I don't have to do that anymore. : )

Gads. . . digging through cases of service manuals, parts manuals, owners manuals, electrical manuals, supplements and who knows what not . . many still wrapped in plastic . . going back to 1987 and look what I find . . . very cool.

There is so much of the life of Buell that I do not know about, hard at times to rap my arms around. Truly amazing!

I'm glad you guys share.

And this song comes to mind about this long and winding road named Buell/EBR... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K_-D5B7DIg

Today Doris is going over old photos. Her oldest brother is retiring from Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation in another month.

One of the best controller, motor-men in the business!

Great memories. I just said to her "this isn't Jeff's last toast". And then I said "you know, this isn't Erik's last either!"

I came to this dance late. But boy am I glad I got here. You guys are the best!

God bless you.

No, it was 6000+ miles on my mostly stock S1, riding alone across the country and back, touring Milwaukee area, visiting the Buell Factory, attending Harley's 95th Party, riding on the Road America track (parking on their lot actually).

Lotsa memories, Lotsa fun, No Regrets! Why do you ask?

Just curious, I have put in 500 mile weekends on my S1 a few times and was worn out. I am just under 20,000 now but unfortunately hardly ride it anymore.

Newfie rode his S1 from St. John's, Newfoundland to the 20th Anniversary and back in 2003. I couldn't have done it, but it didn't bother him.
