Who made the S2 frames?
Wasn't the story that some fellow was making the frames, but the volume was too much, and someone else had to start making them?
didn't the welds change on the frame. didn't the beads go the entire way around the tube and the flat pieces, then later, only welds at particular locations? REX

Jim Schneider at Competition R & D did most of the early tube frames. i don't remember is he did the very first RW and RR frames but by the time the RR really got into production he was welding away on them.

He also did the first few hundred of the S2 and then Arkron (sp?) took over. They had more automated systems and the welds do not look as nice but they are more consistent. Over the life of the S2 the assembly process was tweaked to make it easier to put together at their shop.

Any idea (or any records) of when production shifted from Jim, to the other firm? VIN-wise?

Or, are there any visible identifying marks/cues? Just wondering if I can trace who put '95 S2 #1365 together.... : )

There might be but I have no idea who could access them. I bet it could show it to Jim he could tell in about 30 seconds.

I think he only did about 4-600 S-2 frames and maybe a lot less. Next time i see him i'll try to remember to ask.

Brankin might remember.
