Maybe Cam can challenge Gagne at the front. It would be great for the competitiveness of the series.

It also looks like Petrucci will be sticking around, and he also wants an opportunity to dice with Gagne. He realizes he can't really win a championship on hoping Gagne has a bad day, or that it will rain every race...

What happened?? I thought I had read reports that Herrin was going to ride a Superbike this weekend... but I don't see his name in any of the timing sheets?

I was wondering the same thing. They probably saw how much it was going to cost and pulled the plug.

This is good news if he stays. Someone to push Gagne! Be nice to see them actually going head-to-head, too... not just winning a race because the other had a technical issue...

Looks like Petrucci is going to WSBK. Odd because last year he'd said he picked MotoAmerica because WSBK was too much like MotoGP. Considering he could only beat Gagne when Gagne had technical issues or DNFed, I don't see him doing more than just filling a slot on the grid.

Herrin moves up to Superbike, and it looks like Xavi Fores will be leaving the WSBK paddock to take Herrin's old Supersport ride.

Cameron Beaubier is returning as well. Rumor has it he'll be on a BMW next year but I haven't seen any confirmation. Should be an interesting year.

Since Petrucci was only familiar with Laguna Seca and COTA, a second year would undoubtedly see him go faster on the other tracks. I am not saying he would beat Gagne, but I believe Petrucci would have taken a step forward. Think about having to learn a new track and try to compete at that level. Not easy at all.

Toni Sunglasses is back! With Petrucci gone I was wondering who might be able to push Gagne to his limits. Now I know. This should be an interesting year!

Toni is a good addition. He is an exciting rider and not afraid to make moves. Hopefully the Suzuki will be a competitive bike to battle the Yamahas.

Speaking of "pushing Gagne" I still haven't heard confirmation of where CamBee is going this year... just rumors of him riding a BMW.

MA wants $89.99 for their early bird streaming package. WSBK is cheaper at regular price with better racing and more dates!

Ah CRAP! Barber is in MAY??? That blows my plans. : (

And I see that they will not be sharing the track with MotoGP this year in Texas either. Strange schedule!

I didn't notice they weren't supporting GP at COTA. Good catch. I wonder what happened there?

They could condense the schedule too and it would be good for everyone. 10 events over almost 7 months seems too drawn out to me.

Based on this first round, this is going to be one HELL of a season for MotoAmerica Superbikes. Beaubier did NOT disappoint as he's found something in the BMW that it doesn't seem any other rider in any other Superbike series has managed. Gagne will have a fight on his hands this year!

OTOH, Toni Sunglasses seems to be nowhere. Hopefully he gets himself up to speed, but the Suzuki is starting to show its age I'm afraid...

I only have watched today's races, but yeah, the Superbike race was killer! Beaubier is obviously a threat to Jake's domination.

Did you look at the Stock 1000 bikes? It looked like a BMW class race!! Those M1000RRs are popular for riders in that class, for sure, and maybe Cam B is onto something in Superbike as far as his choice!

I'm not a Herrin/Duc fan, and he did not disappoint in race 2!!

Beaubier impressive on the Beemer, especially with not much time to set up the bike. Herrin on the Ducati was also in the fight. It was a miracle Herrin was able to squeeze between those bikes when he ran off. Entertaining racing for sure. Hope it continues all season!

TV Schedule for Barber this weekend--quite complicated. I like the YouTube option! All times EST.

Well Jake was pretty much untouchable this weekend. Beaubier also didn't look as strong as he did at the previous round (though he's still looking pretty damn strong compared to the rest of the field).

Escalante seems to have figured out the Suzuki. So far, Toni Sunglasses has been disappointing; I expected more from him.

Well, so much for the dream that Beaubier will give Gagne competition all season. What a disappointing couple of races. Snooze fest. When the the cameras ae peeled at the race for 5th place, you know it's bad.

Sorry I was thinking Race 1 and was the race for 6th, not 5th.

Race 2 was better, but still not very competitive except for the race for 2nd place. I was BBQ'ing Sunday and wasn't able to devote full attention.

Yeah, Saturday's race wasn't as compelling. And what is up with Toni Elias? He should be MUCH more competitive than he's been so far. Richie Escalante has the same bike and is looking so much stronger.

I expect Herrin to be all over the place and so far he hasn't disappointed. Still, as Jason and Greg pointed out, there are FOUR former Superbike champions on the grid (including Jake).

BTW, over in Supersport "Old Man" Hayes is doing a LOT better than I expected!

It will be interesting at Road America. The Duc and BMWs could showcase their horsepower and give Yamaha something to sweat.
