Are any of you using the ceramic tire balancing beads?

Successfully?

Any input would be appreciated, the Indy who mounts my tires can’t balance my rear tires on his Snap-On spin balancer for some reason.

I have used them several times with good success and I have friends that use them with good results. and we ride 10,000 to 30,000 miles a year each person.

+1 I use them on both the STT and EBR. Not "ceramic" per say but like them very much

What's wrong with using a balancing stand?

Been off the track for a while but always used a static balancing stand. Not trying to stir anything up but just don't trust the magic beads.

I agree, Tim. I haven't found any scientific principle that could explain how a bunch of beads freely whirling around inside your tire can magically affix themselves to the lightest point of the wheel to balance it out...

It certainly seems like snake oil to me, but then again I'm still trying to figure out how my uncle pulled that quarter out of my ear without me feeling it when I was 6. I mean how did it even get in there ? I didn't put it there...that's for sure.

Well, I think I’ll try the static balancing stand, and see how it works out.
It tends to work well enough for my shovelheads.
If I’m not satisfied with it, I’ll get some beads and give them a shot.

I have access to a 'real' balancer (Weaver), but use both a static stand in my garage and the "magic beads" lol.

FWIW, If I balance a tire with the Weaver, then bring it home and test it on the static stand, I have found slight variances (1/4oz or so, no biggie)
BUT If I first static balance a tire the take it to the Weaver, It has never needed re-balancing!

I started using the beads as a test with no bad results so far. The bummer is the better/worse statement is really subjective and theres no easy way to test empirically.

How they work is super easy to google and you'll find a ton of opinions... welcome to the internet, the facts are just behind that haze of opinion....

FWIW, I believe they DO work because they are call the "Laws" of Physics, not the 'suggestions' of Physics, haha.
I also think they are particularly suited to motorcycle tires because the domed tire makes dynamic balancing a non-issue. The problems begin with improper use, and cheap beads that stick or disintegrate. IMO
