Well, Jake improved his time by almost 1.5 seconds but he's still stuck in 17th. It'll be interesting to see the times from Portimao and compare Jake to PJ.

PJ has been in the paddock longer and knows the tracks, but Jake is more familiar with the CBR1000RR.

Not sure if Jake's experience with the Honda from MotoAmerica gives him any advantage in that regard. I know they FOUGHT the electronics last year and for most of the year ran WITHOUT them (when they weren't DNF'ing BECAUSE of them!), so the WSBK gig will present a completely new series of challenges for Jake this year. I'm also hoping that Honda sorted the issues out so the RoadRace Factory folks have better luck!

Well, PJ was doing his time on 600s, that was my point. Jake has the experience with the 1000.

10-4. Good point. The liter Honda is a different animal, for sure.

If what he says in this article is true, this is seriously the DUMBEST idea Dorna has EVER devised:

http://www.crash.net/wsbk/news/889487/1/kawasaki-c hief-regulation-changes-not-fair-not-clever

Why not just require Rea and Sykes to ride Two-Up for God's sakes???

Although I am as tired as anyone with seeing Jonathan Rea run away with the title as anyone, forcing him to slow down doesn't give any of the other teams the incentive to up their own games. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Just like MotoGP, I'm tired of seeing Marquez win, but I don't want them to impose any rules specifically designed to slow him down. What would be the point of racing, then?

The season starts and Hell must've frozen over because I'll be cheering on two HONDA riders this year. Go Jake and PJ!!!

My garage rolling stock would confirm that I don't speak Japanese at all, but I'm with ya!!

Gotta look into a streaming package for WSBK. Any suggestions, or are options limited like most other series viewing?

Don't know. I have beIN Sports on FiOS so I've never had to look anywhere else. I think beIN allows you to subscribe on their website and watch online but I'm not 100% sure of that.

Here's a LINK to the WSBK streaming service.

It's pretty much the same as the MotoGP but a few less bells and whistles.

Very much worth the money, can watch from anywhere.

I think PJ is still coming to grips with the CBR. Jake managed to finish in the points both races, despite crashing in Race 2. PJ only got points in Race 2.

And how about that nail-biter of a finish in Race 2?? Camier is showing the potential of the CBR, so hopefully it won't take Jake and PJ much longer to get up to the sharp end of the stick.

Top 10 finish for PJ Jacobsen in Thailand Race 2. Not sure what happened to Jake, I guess they don't interview the finishers in 14th (at least he got points this time).

Neither American got points in Race 1. Camier is certainly showing the potential of the Honda platform, so it's up to Jake and PJ to get up there with him. Jake has factory support so he SHOULD be doing better.

That was an unexpected result. Throughout practice and qualifying it sure looked like it would be a Kawasaki cake walk in Donington. Sykes took the pole, but Rea showing dominant race pace.

Things took an unexpected turn on Saturday and Sunday. As the late Nicky Hayden once said: "That's why we line up."

PJ Jacobsen to race Suzuka for the Honda Factory Team!

Is he the first American since Colin Edwards? Does anyone know?

Well, the second half of the "Jonny Rea Show" season is now on. Good to see that not only did Jake finish in the points, he was the ONLY Honda rider to make it to the finish line. Hoping he can keep his seat for next year (and I hope HRC can help make that thing competitive).

In Part 2 of this weekend's "Jonny Rea Show" all three Hondas finished the race. Both Factory riders finished in the points, with Jake getting the better of his team mate. PJ unfortunately finished outside the points.

I thought these were sprint races. What am I missing?

So Johnny Rea can win the Championship by 300 points next year...

I vote for a full inversion of the Race 1 results for Race 2. What the hell. Something has to be done because WSBK has become a joke. 10 wins in a row by JR. Real. Exciting.

It's apparently official: Gagne is out for 2019. With both PJ and Jake out of the picture, I have absolutely no interest in the 2019 "Jonny Rea Show."

Unless there's late breaking news regarding Beaubier moving to Europe next year, I may as well just delete this series off my DVR.

I noticed that in the Honda announcement, too. I suspect Jake is heading back to the USA, but haven't heard anything official, or any rumored landing zones.

I'm thinking all the USA has is Roberts in Moto2 as far as high-end international racing, eh?

Well the new GRT Yamaha team has announced their riders and once again, the US is cut out. Might as well delete WSBK from my DVR programming because there is NO reason at all to watch the "Jonathan Rea Show" in 2019.

Looks like someone changed their mind?

https://www.asphaltandrubber.com/wsbk/laguna-seca- added-2019-worldsbk-calendar/

Still, far less interesting without Jake or PJ on the grid. PJ apparently got a ride in the MotoAmerica Supersport grid but I haven't heard anything about Jake yet.

Well this is good news. It remains to be seen if FoxSports handles MotoAmerica as well as beIN did last year.
