I feel badly for him, but that's racing at the world level I guess. Tough season. Did he get a decent chance to improve? Maybe he will come back to the US for the newly organized series. Do they pay out his contract for the year?

Ouch! The Americans are being beaten out of the FIM picture. Time to revamp the AMA PRO racing series. We need a moto2 type class here in the states.

That's what's being done.

Craig where did you read we are going to have a Moto2 class?? That would mean a company to come up with engines and that has not been announced yet.

Is it very difficult to find engines?

Moto2 bikes all use the same race spec engine which is built & supplied by Honda.

I have not heard directly.

But if you read between the lines, it all points in that direction. A clear class structure that will allow for direct progression to other markets and the world stage.

"MotoAmerica, in consultation with the AMA, will develop classes, the rules of competition and event procedures. While details of the rulebook are still in development, classes and events will conform to prevailing international standards."

"The structure of our agreement with the AMA serves the goal of developing riders to be successful on the world stage," Rainey said.

"The AMA's roles as FIM affiliate and amateur sanctioning body make it a critical piece to establishing a clear progression for America's road racing community," Rainey said.

Theres really no reading between the lines as of yet. They need to restore faith in factory sponsorship and getting them to come back to race. Then a factory has to step up for engines to do a Moto2 class. Honda ?? They still need to be wined and dined to race here as do Kawasaki. I think we'll see new classes within bikes that are presently on the market in the states to promote the sales of buying these bikes. Its gonna take the factory teams to come back to help in that direction

If the goal is get more young talent on the track where they can compete to see who is good enough to race at the next level...they need to create rules that limit the dollars needed to be competitive.

I would love to see a regional feeder class that used stock 600cc sport bikes that allowed only minimal modifications needed for off road riding. That way riders could be competitive without having to outspend the rest of the field.

I think that has always been EB's dream of being able to compete right off the showroom floor. But I don't think the 1190 (or any superbike) would be the right choice for a feeder class.

A spec class with that new KTM390 would be a awesome way to develop young riders.

The 600 has been used and that was Supersport. Very little done to these bikes

I am talking "Regional" feeder class. Like East/West or perhaps even more regions.

Ask the guys who can only field a bike for 1 AMA race. There answer will be travel costs and not enough $$ to be competitive.
