Well, there is a nifty MPG 350 Blast owned by Garth Hill from the Flint area. XL 1000 cylinder bored at 3.129, de-stroked to 2.675, Honda roller bearing crank, titanium rod, already has 2 records.

And an S2 running in the 1000cc class. Photos eventually.

Trouble uploading pix w/ new netbook. Cool to be at Bonneville with access to BadWeb, though.

Nifty Blast running A/PG, with SPONSORSHIP from NW Harley in Olympia, WA. 12 feet of rectagular tubing in the frame, boat trailer rear fender and tanks made from two truck exhaust stacks. Owner Bob Diehler builds hot rods for a living, his work is very good.

Mark Rubin from Ft. Lauderdale brought his 1000 MPG S2. CV carb, stock exhaust--less muffler. Another beautiful bike, he also does all his own work. A true Buell fan who recognizes what a hand made classic is.

The Bob Biehler Blast is beautiful but unfortunately doesn't have the speed it should. 110 mph is 7-10 mph slower than stock frame blasts are running

Yeh, there are a couple of Blast guys looking for h.p. this off season . . . and know where (NRHS) to get it. Bob said he has less actual cash outlay in the bike than what his trip to the salt cost.

This record was a tough one, they really had to work for it. To give some a sense for what's involved here's a synopsis:

Thursday: arrived at 1:30, got registered/tech'ed and in line by 2:15, were third to go when they shut down the meet for the day at 5:30

Friday: qualified at 175, hurt a piston in the process, swapped front cyl/piston/head in impound, finished repairs with 7 minutes left in the 4-hour allotment to work in the bike

Saturday: failed in the backup attempt (probably due to bad gas added, motor didn't want to run clean), swapped the gas, requalified at 169.9 with a bad intake seal, repaired that in impound

Sunday: failed in backup attempt when the front nitrous injector plugged, repaired it, requalified at 175.799, backed up at noon in the end-of-meet backup session with a 170.3 into an 8mph headwind

Sometimes this stuff is hard and it took some perseverance this time. . . but it's done.

The little black S1 holds both M-PG and M-PF 1350cc in both sanctioning bodies (SCTA/BNI and AMA). Susan actually already had this record, since she set it back in '03. This session was just working on raising some numbers. Looks like a big success in a tough class.

Time slip

Terry has a bit of experience making blasts go fast( 5 records) with a 138mph pass. Those folks might want to talk to him.
