I was wondering if anyone has seen one of these up close and personal. It is a Rex M/C products light mount for a KTM Adventure.

I am looking for a clean way to mount some PIAA 510s and was wondering if this setup could be modified to work. I tried searching the web for the manufacter but did not have any luck. I do not have the equipment to fab mounts so I am looking for something that might work with a minimum of fabrication.

I followed a design similar to the one formerly on the Ulytility website. Site now gone. He used both aluminum and steel 1-1/4in angle. Cut out for tire clearance under fender, bolted with OEM fender bolts. I have made 2 of these at home w/ aluminum, ensure that you leave min 3/4 in lip across the width to ensure strength. Minor trimming on fendertips to clear base. These are Hella 1300 (H3) Driving lights.

Some flat stock bent to 90 degrees, drilled to be able to mount under my signal stalks........powder coat black....After several thousand miles...........no probs with the Hella FF50's....

Thanks for the replies folks. And just for the record I did search and find plenty on here. My question was specifically about the KTM light bar and if anyone has seen one up close to know whether or not it could possibly work on the Uly. Know I am not part of the "in" crowd here but this place is a great source of knowledge about the Uly.

There is no "in crowd" here.
If you post and try to be helpful then "you're in".

"in crowd?"

This whole bunch is more likely associated with the 'out crowd.'

I don't recall anyone mentioning the KTM piece prior to your post on the subject. I've never seen one so I haven't a clue. All the Uly bars I've seen use the 'beak' attachment points so I'd guess you'd be doing some fab work to get it to work.

I live in Atlanta, where it never actually gets dark, so I hardly even need headlights around town. I did some mountain riding in the dark last week, though, and man the stock lights were feeble. I ended up just pulling over and letting a car pass me so I could follow behind and use its lights.

Gme, that bar looks solid as hell. When are you making a batch for the rest of us? : )

not sure what the Hella mount looks like, if it's a stem type mount there should be no problem, but if the OD is bigger than the PIAA it might not fit as I tried to keep the lights as tight to the bike as possible.

Gme,
Is that bar just aluminum flat stock mounted to the lower triple tree? That I can deal with. Doing layout and drilling holes is no problem. But I do not have the equipment to get all fancy with it.

Chopped58,
I like the direction you took. Not sure exactly what you did but I'm going to mount using the hollow threaded rod coming out of the turn signals. I'll bolt the homemade bracket with another nut up against the nut that holds the turn signal to the inside of the fairing.

Here's the commercial version of what Chopped58 did. (nice set-up by the way 58, I like that the best).

These would be a clean install if they made them for the Uly

Actually, now that I think about it.... You may be able to buy the BMW front blinkers for around $699.99 and put them on the Buell. Then these mounts should work ehh?

Wow thats a pretty slick setup. I stole the idea from someone's bike on this board, but don't remember who's bike it was. Very simple to make, and it's held up well thus far. (although no off-road) Let us know how you make out with whichever mount you choose.

Thanks brudda that looks like something I can do. Start with some regular stock. Layout and drill the holes....and maybe if it is something I like have it machined a little.
Preciate it dude.

Hey GME, could you get back to me I would like one of those brackets. I made one out of 1/4" angle but it mounts the lights in the way of the air coming into the motor, now my fans run all the time. Let me know where and when to send the money.....thanks Lou
