pulled the old uly out of the garage and charged the battery last week during the cooler weather. second replacement fan is oil fouled and I have no intention of ripping the engine apart and replacing seals and gaskets. runs fine in cooler weather but never did have good heat management when temp was above 75f. trying to find smaller diameter cyclone fans that would fit inside the intake air scoop. If the fan is forward of the rear cylinder then it's not gonna be eating leaking oil. Hell, I'd put one on each side for good measure. |

my oil came from a poorly positioned rear cylinder breather hose (PVC) with a deformed grommet. replaced the grommet, repositioned the hose, zip tied in place. worked for me. |

now that the beast is out of the cage, it is being well fed with fresh oil, cleaned up, ridden hard (put away wet)...LOL Am content to ride it as a 100% air cooled bike until it dies. No cylinder topside leaking that I can find. not sure where the oil fouling the fan is coming from. |

Oh, FWIW, 42800 miles on it...Drive belt finally snapped at 40000 miles...no complaints on that. |

Is the fan actually wet? Or is it just bearing fatigue? My Uly's fan has sounded like a dryer full of marbles for the last...oh...15 or 20k miles. Still works fine though. Take a look at the underside of your airbox plate - the PCV hoses go up there and into the airbox, to get the vapors fed into the throttel body. The oil could be coming from there, as opposed to the heads themselves... |

oil fouled...fan was less than a year old. oil leaking back of rear cylinder. PCVs are fine. No leakage there. |
