I'm getting an intermittent code 11. I pulled my stock TPS and cleaned it up. I bought a '06 TPS from St. Paul but I have the updated version. I can't find a P0279.3AA anywhere. Any one have a line on one? I'm looking at Frankensteining a '94 Mustang and a '93 Mustang TPS and see if it works. |

So you need a 2007 type TPS? (That’s what your part number comes up as.) IIRC, the only difference in the 2006 and 2007 TPS is the pin that engages the throttle shaft is indexed 90 degrees off between the two. If you actually need a 2006-style TPS, it may be possible to re-drill a 2007 type to index the pin correctly. According the the Buell XB board, the 93 Mustang TPS is a direct swap for the 2007: Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) same as 1993 Mustang Duralast #TPS213 AIRTEX Part # 5S5022 (07+ TPS) Standard motor products TH317 (07+ TPS) BECK/ARNLEY Part # 1580864 (07+ TPS) Duralast TPS4129 (07+ TPS) |

None those actually work on my bike. The 93 Mustang is indexed wrong (just like the '06) and the others have a completely different style of interface to the shaft. |

Well, that’s good information. I hate it when crossover parts lists are wrong. |

I searched and Twin Motorcycles (Buell specialist in the Netherlands) says the 07 TPS is no longer available anywhere. They sell a kit consisting of 06 TPS, gaskets, and the improved 06 throttle shaft (which I believe they copied from Badwebber Tootal). Tootal may still have the replacement throttle shafts; you could just get an 06 one from him and use the 1993 Mustang TPS. |

Tootal's throttle shaft is cross drilled and thus accepts either sensor. Simply a matter of putting the pin in the correct hole. Tootal's a fine man and does really good work.. (Message edited by JohnDoe on July 20, 2021) |

So, turns out it is an ECM issue. There are cracks were the wiring harness meets the ECM. If I push up from below the TPS signal goes back to normal. I ended up zip tying it to hold it in place just to get home. I have a new ECM coming from St. Paul. Thank you guys so much for the info. I will try to get in touch with him about the shaft just to have options in the future. |

Good catch and thanks for updating with resolution. Still might want to get Tootal shaft for parts box. |

I just got back from racing in Pittsburgh for two weeks and found this. I also had another shaft request from somebody else but I don't have any finished. I'll be in the shop later this week and will finish a half dozen. Part of that is drilling both the tps holes which aren't exactly 90 degrees apart but are close. I have a drill fixture but made it so long ago I've forgotten the actual degrees! In all our years of racing we've never lost a differential. Now we've lost two and the last month!! Thank goodness for friends with multiple spares that loaned us one. Now I have two to rebuild! Damn, I thought I retired!! |

Wow, just updated the shafts sold file and I'm up to 94 shafts! Actually more that that since a few got 2 shafts. I need to see how many XB's were made and do the math to see the percentage of failures. My guess it's pretty tiny. Although most failures were Uly's there still were quite a few non Uly's that failed. And I thought they were dying from the extra atmospheric pressures of being so high up on a Ulysseys! |

So I finally got around to installing Tootal's throttle shaft. Quality piece! Got the TPS set up for the '06 style TPS and installed the early '06 TPS. I took pictures and will post them in a Google slide when I get a chance. Just wanted to let everyone know that Tootal is the man. Thanks. BTW my original wasn't broken, just wanted to be able to replace the TPS I. The future. |

curious if the 06 TPS is reportedly much more expensive than 07; By using the other set of holes, could you have used Tootal's replacement shaft to change over to the 07 TPS on your 06? Has anyone else done this? Is it a straight plug & Play? thanks for any input |

I did exactly the opposite because the updated '06 isn't available anywhere. (Message edited by lew360 on October 20, 2021) |
