My Uly is making a chain sound. I have included a youtube link. Is this normal or do I have a problem? Any ideas if it is a problem?

Is that not the cooling fan? If so, that’s normal.

Sounds a little like a wet belt. Also check the bearing in the idler on the belt.

You can hear the fan for sure, but there is another sound like a chain driven motorcycle. My other bikes are chain driven and when I move them after a longer ride it sounds the same. This only happens after a longer ride, doesn't happen when it is cold.

My Ulysses would make a kind of squeaking sound when rolled backwards.
The noise was the belt.

Try squirting water on the belt and see if that changes the noise.

I have chain on my Buell and it sounds different. Yours sounds like there is a tree leave or tree branch stuck somewhere in the swing arm or between the fender and the tire and drags on the tire making this sound.

The frequency of the sound is too high for such low speed you move your motorcycle, so again it sounds like a piece of junk is stuck somewhere and drags on the tire treads. Maybe there is a piece if junk stuck under the belt covers and drags on the belt.

Or, one of the belt guards is rubbing.

I can't listen to the video here at work (no speakers) but "chain noises" on my Uly have come from either a clutch throwout that's going (it will change noise when you pull in the clutch lever), or a primary that's out of adjustment and the chain is slapping the inside of the chaincase.

All right, so I took a couple of new better videos for y'all. No sound in the morning before I ride it. https://youtu.be/mRifJEgZXVA

After my ride home from work. No fan this time. https://youtu.be/cdywXTjskNs

Just put your motorcycle on stand and rotate each wheel manually and listen to carefully where this sound comes from.

Another question - why did you shift the gear lever before moving it backward? Was it in neutral, or it was in gear and you held clutch lever squeezed while moving it backward. I newer put my motorcycle in gear when it is parked or when I move it around, it is always in neutral before I shout the engine down and after starting the engine. So maybe this is the key.

Or maybe this is brake pads drag on the brake rotor making this sound when they are hot after riding.

It might be that simple. I was putting it in neutral to move it out. I usually leave it in gear when I pull it in the garage. I leave it in gear when parked just so it can't move.
