I rode my Ulysses and my buddy's SS back to back today and it really seems like the Uly pulls stronger down low but runs out of steam a lot quicker while the SS kept pulling for longer.

Is this my imagination or are they geared differently?

While you're here, I have the following issue: the fan on my Ulysses never comes on anymore, but I can still activate it manually with my Buelltooth dongle. Is there a temp sensor out somewhere or what could be wrong?

All XB12 models use the same gearing. XB9 bikes have shorter gearing via the primary chain ratios. If in 5th gear on a XB12 it indicates 60mph at 3000 RPM, you have the stock gearing.

Interesting, I'd almost swear there was something different. Can't be just the weight if the power delivery seems so inverted.

Check temperature reading and fan temperature activation setting with Bluetooth dongle.

What years are your Uly and that SS? If they are the same year it should feel the same.

I know the 08 and later bikes had a different exhaust setup than previous years on the Euro bikes, I don't know how they affect the performance.

Re the EU 08 bikes, adversely I can tell from experience. Sucked all the fun right out of that lump.

My Uly and his SS are both MY 06 bikes.

You should have intake air temp and engine temp sensors. Check both with a cold engine, they should be near the same. If not check the air temp with a separate thermometer and see which one is lying!
