Now I can't find the thread but the other day I was farting around on this site and somebody was talking about putting 2 stroke oil in his gas and then way back when they used to add a splash of Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas tank.
I had some kicking around so dumped a slug in the Useless and about 15 miles into the ride the CEL comes on, it goes out after a bit, comes back on and finally goes away.
I don't even have to pull the code to know what that is: O2 sensor.
Moral of the story: don't dump Marvel Mystery Oil into a fuel injected bike's gas, the O2 sensor will not appreciate the momentary coating.

I would never put more than a half ounce per gallon of oil in. And that is blended prior to putting the fuel in. Not in a slug. I think you dodged a bullet.

I'll stick with SeaFoam.

I can't say I'm surprised either:
1-2oz in a full tank is about 0.2%. Good luck with a "splash" of anything. Marvel mystery oil is not 2 stroke oil. Who knows?

Like Ourdee said, mixed. I'd put in an ounce at the station with the bike off, then fill the tank. Just like my 2 strokes that don't self-mix.

I have no idea about SeaFoam other than whats written on the can.

If you decide to put Castor oil in the tank, I suggest Blendzall #460 "Green Label" 2-Cycle Racing Castor @.5 ounce per gallon. Contains a rust inhibitor and seal preservative. Separation may occur with some gasoline in temperatures below 50 degrees Farenheit. Add 2 oz. #490 Power Booster per one gal. gasoline to eliminate separation. It is best to run all the mixed fuel that day and not let it sit.

Per SeaFoam: "Sea Foam cleans and dissolves petroleum residues and harmful deposits throughout fuel and oil systems, adds lubricity and corrosion protection to engine parts, stabilizes gas and diesel fuels, controls small amounts of moisture and preserves ignition vapors. Sea Foam only contains highly-refined petroleum ingredients."

The SeaFoam MSDS is vague on the ingredients. The web says: 40 to 60% pale oil, 25 to 35% naphtha, 10 to 20% isopropyl alcohol.

Yep, nothing like the sweet sweet smell of combusting castor oil emitting from the tail pipe of a motorcycle.
Takes me back to Friday nights of yore; at Ascot Park's 1/2 mile races.

Oh Teeps, you ain't kidding about Ascot and Castor oil!

A friend of mine recently ran across a whole stack of vintage Ascot patches and is putting them on Dickies work jackets to sell.

I was too young to know the joy of flat track dirt in my beer though: ) Do you ever go to the fairground races in Costa Mesa?

I have been using homemade Seafoam for a handful of years. I use it in all my vehicles and yard equipment. I make it up 1 gallon at a time.

http://hildstrom.com/projects/seafoam/

1/2 gal diesel
1 qt of naphtha
QS to 1 gallon with Iso Heet (methanol)

I'll hit the rock store on occasion (tall dork with a pink Guy Martin John Britten tribute helmet, on a white SX) but usually too many squids and cops on the weekend for me: (

Mostly The Rock Inn (Lake Hughes), Newcombs, or Wrightwood. All over Mt Emma or Mt. Whitney: )

Theres a GREAT ride I do from the base of Hwy 2 all the way down the spine of the Angeles forest to Big Bear, about a million corners... give or take; )

I've seen a white tuber there, looks like it just rolled off the dealer floor.

I do not use seafoam. You are adding more alcohol to your bike if you do use it. It may have a use but I'm trying to keep my bike on the wagon, away from alcohol. It's already in our gas anyway. I use 2 stroke oil occasionally. Never had any issues with it. Mix it in on fill up. I've used Marvel Mystery Oil too, it'll make your exhaust smell nice
