Hello, I had my laptop sitting on the side case door when the cables that stops the door from opening too far snapped. Anyone know of a good source for a replacement or a good fix?

Hepco Becker refers to them as deckelhalters
I believe its German for suspenders.
There is a US supplier, don't remember whom, they sell a kit with rivets etc.
It's pricey. I think most just make their own from looping and crimping picture wire from the hardware store and putting them on the original connectors. I did, they seem stronger than the plastic they came with.

I replaced mine with thin metal cables from the hardware store, i crimped them to loop around the part the old cable mount. Hope this makes sense.

Yeah, that sounds like a problem that’s just screaming for a home made remedy. I’ve been thinking of using the same thought process to deal with the elastic straps in one bag that are all stretched out.

I ran SpiderWire Braided 50 lb. test line back and forth around the mounting points. Then wrapped them with electrical tape. Never broke again.

Made replacements with cable and crimps from the hardware store. Worked great on my S3T. The retainers on the Uly are still the originals.

A similar option that I used was to get bicycle brake cable and some of the ferrules used and make my own.
The plastic HB parts are not worth buying again as the plastic fatigues and breaks in time.

I thought I was the only one who had them snap and then the lid banged onto the pavement.
I did it quick and dirty with safety wire, I really should hit the hardware store and get something more presentable, it looks like it belongs to Jed Clampett.

12 pack of beer broke mine. Cable and crimps from Ace Hardware. Better than new.
