I am wondering if any of you have tried painting the silver parts of your HB bags to match your plastics? I was thinking of trying this. I remember seeing a blue one on the interwebs somewhere and I thought it looked pretty good. If any of you tried this post up some pics. If you have any useful tips or hints on how to paint these, what paints to use, would be greatly appreciated. I have a 2008 XT in racing red, does anybody happen to know the paint code for that? Thanks.

Vern (etennuly) and I have orange bags on our orange Uly's. I like it very much, makes the bags look like part of the bike instead of an add-on...

Vern's has colormatched wheels too...here's mine:

Any professional body shop with a paint mixing machine should be able to make a color match for you. Quality automotive paints with clear coats properly applied will last a long time.

Because all of the colored parts are of surlyn plastics and none are painted, there are no color codes.

I have done all of the Buell colors at one time or another. Mine was completed in 2008. This picture is from three weeks ago.

I like the pictures guys, keep them coming! Wondering if you all have them professionally painted or you if you did them yourself? Professional Automotive paints, or rattle can?

Vern IS a painter, he did mine...um...well...they were his, then I took them from him and gave him my silver ones which he painted for his own bike . I have a larger HB topcase - I want to say a 52L - that I rattle-canned and it isn't nearly as nice but at least it's the right shade. For now. Although on my Uly, it doesn't much matter how close it is or isn't since the bike is always filthy

I own a body shop. It is kind of cheating.

Rattle can just does not hold up or have a factory look. But it can get you what we call a ten footer. If you get no closer than ten feet it looks fine!

Thanks Vern.
As long as you're ten feet away they look fine!

I like how they highlight the frame

I finally got around to painting my bags. I had to wait for this beautiful Wisconsin weather to warm up a tad. This is a rattle can job but I think it turned out better than I expected. I bought the paint from a professional automotive paint supplier. I had them match the color of my plastics (Sherwin Williams "Lazer Red" is a perfect match), they also sold me SEM plastic primer and SprayMax 2K clear coat in a can. All in all for a rattle can job done in my driveway , I couldn't be happier with the results. I think they are at least "5 footers" if not better. I did order new stickers but they have not come in yet. Thank you for the inspiration.

Looks good! We could have saved your stickers had we known.

I don't take them off. I get out the magnifying lenses and carefully mask them with automotive high quality masking tape.

Thanks for the complements guys. I had these stickers made up by a guy that owed me a favor. I do still have the original Buell stickers, I peeled them off before I painted. I will save those for when I get sick of these.

Nothing wrong with that choice of sticker. Looks awesome.
