I cleaned it up for a better view. Don't think the reflectors are flaking. Former owner installed the extra lights, which do absolutely nothing. And as stated, high beam is aimed almost straight down at the fender

Here's better shots of the bulbs. The one on the right in both photos is high beam. The left, although aimed ok, doesn't provide enough light for me, unless I wanted to drive around at 30 mph! One more question: what's considered the best windscreen for more protection and long trips?popjpeg{820526,}

I would just go to PIAA bulbs myself.

I will try and say it nicely. Those LEDs inhale hard.

Order some standard H7 halogen bulbs and you will notice a major improvement. Aim on high beam should straighten itself out too. Lance likes PIAA. They are good. Then shove one of those leds under the seat for emergencies. When you put halogen bulbs in. If you touch the glass, clean the oil from your hands off them with alcohol on a paper towel.

I wonder if part of the problem, with your led's, is that they aren't a matched pair?
The stock H7's are the same lamp for both high and low beam. It's the housing, reflectors, and lens that make the difference between high/low.
It's easy to go back to H7's, any auto parts store, as they are used for automotive also. Quality varies, I guess some brands don't hold up well.

So the PIAA and standard H7's are available at auto parts, or if not where should I get them online. I live in the middle of nowhere and getting anything around here is futile. Thank heavens for the internet in this case! Thanks for your advice guys

Just looked them up, looks like they're readily available.

I have a DDMtuning(.com) 35w HID bulb, 4300K, in my Uly's low beam. No reflector issues, tons of light. I went with a decent (not the crap you have there - sorry) LED bulb for the high beam - when you're shopping for LED, look at the lumen output. The more, the better - especially on high beam. High beam doesn't have to be as "accurate" as the low beam, just bright.

In general...the 4.5" lights that are on the XB's, suck. Not enough surface area to get a good beam spread. I have been tinkering with the idea of building something using some OEM Kawasaki LED ATV headlights - we have these things here at work and they're BRIGHT and appear about the same size. I'd have to fabricate mounts/brackets because it would be 2 seperate lights (not a bad thing when it comes to aiming them)...we'll see.

Given the crap reflectors, I do have 1125CR mirrors on my Uly with the turn signals in them; I replaced the OEM turn signals with some PIAA projector driving lights, and have them triggered by my high beams so when I go to brights I go from one light, to four. It's adequate. Not elegant...but it keeps me from hitting Bambi.

Let me know if you decide to fabricate that set up, sounds like the way to go!!

For comparison a Cyclops bulb is $65.oo and rated at 4000 lumens.

It has a bulb, fan that cools the bulb, and a driver with the H7 connector. You may be happy with a halogen H7 bulb and not need the LEDs. If you do, I recommend the Cyclops.

I got some H7's and they are great, so for now, as long as they last, I'll be good. Thanks for all the help

How is the aim on the high beam?

In 64,000 miles I have replaced two stock low beam and one hi beam H7 standard bulbs. Brighter are available.

There are windshields, then there are Big Ass Windshields. Mid size tall windshields. Memphis Shades add on defectors. Many different mounting styles.

I made my own BAW out of polycarbonate sheet and a couple brackets. If I can find them I will post pics.

Aim is better in the garage, and if it warms up a little I'll take it for a night ride, but this 15 degree stuff doesn't put me in a hurry!
