Was wondering if anyone could explain what the Rampout feature does in the ECM. In my stock ECM, the Rampout feature is not enabled. In my IDS ECM the feature is enabled. Did some searching and did not get a definitive answer as to what it does.

Apparently its different depending on what software you are using. I am using ECMDroid. Its under noise reduction in General Config. I sent a screenshot to IDS and they said the following "It looks like they have paraphrased some of our calibration parameters and defined them in their own way". Was wondering if anyone knew what it was.

The ramp out table (correct name is Tab_Ret_Ramp_Out)is part of the noise reduction procedure as You correctly stated. Additionally there is a Tab_Ret_Ramp_In and Tab_Ret_Hold table.

The function of the noise reduction is to reduce noise by reducing engine power output under specific circumstances. It is triggered by certain parameters (like gear, Throttle Position, throttle rate of change) and if other parameters are true (like minimum temperature and rpm range). The engine power output is mainly reduced by spark reduction and there is also a fuel correction.

If all conditions are met to activate the power reduction function, the ramp feature gives the option to blend in - hold - and blend out the spark reduction and fuel correction over the period of time as specified in the respective table.

Simplified example: if You want the power reduction to happen immediately after beeing triggered, want the reduction to happen for 10 seconds and want the spark and fuel values to get back to normal very smoothly You would set the ramp in time to "0", the hold time to "10" and the ramp out time to maybe "25" or "30".

Hope this helps.

Is this in conjunction with muffler valve operation as well!
