HD dealers never could order Buell specific parts in the past, the system would reject it. If this news is true, it greatly expands where we can order parts from.

Or perhaps you are just being a realist...

"Can" does not always mean "will"...

Wait, maybe I'm just being negative. (I've heard that somewhere before...)

If you're in OR, Latus Motors provides pretty good support, and they will always send parts to you via UPS.

If you're in CO, High Country Harley is still supporting Buell for both parts ans service. In fact, there are a couple of die-hards there who still answer the phone, "High COuntry Harley Davidson and Buell."

It sounds to me that HD has realized that many of the Buell hooligans might be getting older and looking to replace their Buell in the future so why not be nice to them and maybe if we can get them into our showrooms to get Buell parts they might walk out with a new Harley.
I mean if that's the case it's smart on their part. Maybe those in charge now see how stupid it was when Wandel pulled the rug out from under us and are trying to make up for it.
Who knows? Glad to hear it anyway!

This new development was actually always the plan. Blocking out the dealers that didn't sign Buell support agreements is how Harley rewarded supporting dealers, by making them the only dealers able to order Buell parts. Now that those support agreements are expired, all dealers can now order Buell parts.

"Harley-Davidson will continue to offer most Buell parts to dealers through July 2020. Buell parts ordering will be opened for all Harley-Davidson dealers, not just Buell service providers. The Digital Technician tool will continue to function for Buell motorcycles and Dealer Services will continue to provide support to dealers and customers relating to Buell."

So, only up through mid-2020. At the moment, a company called Vintage Parts sells parts not available through Harley-Davidson. VP is contractually not allowed to sell directly but channels parts through H-D shops. Perhaps, after July 2020, Vintage Parts will be allowed to conduct direct retail sales.

That's, pretty much, been the HD/VP arrangement for years . . . HD doesn't inventory vintage parts . . they have, as long as I can recall, contracted it to VP.

All the parts that most of the manufacturers don't want ( GM, Ford, Dodge, Freight liner, komatso, Cat, and so on) have an agreement with the vintage to only sell the parts to the dealer of the some manufacturer. They have monster warehouses filled with parts and scraping parts everyday. I was out there Thursday and bought another 40+ skids of parts from them, about 25% of them being Buell parts.

more availability makes me happy...expense of Buell parts makes me annoyed (to put it lightly)

As it looks like I need a new speed sensor unit.

651lance has recently been contributing to this site and we should continue to support his dealership if possible.

his advise and input is worth paying the shipping

why support the HD dealers that don't support us, but only want our $.

we lost american sportbike (Al), we need to hang together.

please financially support this website as well-see the header at the top of the page

Kinda my thoughts . . . .

Lance may be a few bucks higher . . . but I like having someone I can depend on and not have to explain what a Buell is.
