When the mighty Useless gets hot it'll throw a code for the O2 sensor when running at steady speed in top but when I pull in the clutch and let off the gas for 3 seconds the CEL goes out.
This is pointing to the ECM getting vibration damage, I fear. I'm going to try rubber mounting the ECM.
Anyone else experience this one?

It ignores the oxygen sensor until it gets up to temp and at a steady cruise. So perhaps the sensor is actually borked up?

How many miles on sensor? Doesn't hurt to take ecm loose if hard mounted and wrap it if needed. Mine has just been setting under seat for several years loose. I've just put thin Styrofoam around it and keep checking for crush points.
I'm not sure if when you go into deceleration mode if o2 sensor is still active or not. I'll have to look.

As i said in the other topic, i experienced same issue - CEL was flashing at steady freeway speed (upon checking CEL was flashing code 13). I don't think it was a issue related to the quality of the gas, because i refilled three times in my last ride and CEL light was flashing every time i was on the freeway at a steady speed. Anyway, i replaced my O2 sensor with the Bosch unit. Unfortunately, up to now i didn't had time to test the bike on the freeway and check if CEL is flashing again. Maybe it is self suggestion, but it seems to me that the engine is running better in the mid range rpm when it is hot. First time when i can take the bike on freeway i will make an update here.

It's a new Bosch and what makes me think ECM is that it only does it when it's warm outside. On the way into work, no CEL.
I'm thinking a combination of rubber mounting and heat barrier material for the ECM might be what I need to do.

I had that same issue. Replaced the sensor several times. Turned out it was worn wiring from the sensor to the ecm.

Make sure you are not over filling with oil as I had done this and it messed with the O2 sensor and threw a code until the oil got down to the proper level. Sucking the oil into the air cleaner isn't liked by the Oxygen Sensor.

I shall check both things this weekend.
Got some parts for the bike in the mail so it'll receive some more TLC with the magic hammer.

No CEL in the 100 mile commute today but the temperature never got out of the 50s.

Steve-

After I replaced my O2 sensor a few times, I started digging into the wiring. The wire that comes from the sensor and enters the loom does so via a maze that only Will Hunting could navigate. So I took the wire right from the sensor and routed it directly to the ECM. It was the solid grey wire, methinks, but do not quote me on that. After that little 'mod', the issue never came back.

Good luck.

Thanks!
Tomorrow I tear into it armed with a shop manual.

Partial success, the Bosch O2 sensor finally took a complete dump so I ordered an NTK brand, see how that one works out.
I did get the AllBalls steering stem bearings installed, replaced the rear stop light switch that I stupidly broke and ordered new front brake pads before I die from no friction material so progress is being made.

Exact same experience over the last 25k miles with my 06 as portero mentions...Replaced o2 sensor a couple times but that fix never lasted more than a couple months...I didn't replace any wires just jiggled the harness, didnt seem to be a wiring to ecm or ecm problem, and it hasn't been back in 3k. (I have put 40k on my uly in 2 years so the mixing of measurements can get confusing).

Put in an NGK/NTK 21001 and no more code and much peppier on the initial test ride.
Took it out today and get to the bottom of a hill and the mofo pops the belt in two.
You f'in hunka s word, God I hate you, why do I even bother etc. sez me.

So, does anyone have any experience with these?

I tried their "check fit" and it says it won't fit my Uly.

I saw that but the reviews say otherwise.
Has anyone tried this belt?

One thing I can add: those super tight belts do not wear in, they wear the teeth of the rear sprocket.
I haven't checked the front one yet.

After reading a few reviews, that Goodyear belt doesn't look like a good idea after all. Too much snappage to coin a word.

I don't care what this bike thinks, it WILL hit 200,000 miles. It might be fighting me every inch of the way but tough. I'm bigger and meaner than it is.

Steveford, any update with the ngk o2 sensor? With the bosch unit my bike ran well for aprox. 3000km, now the CEL light is flashing again. What's odd is that I don't notice any difference at engine behavior or fuel consumption.

Yes, the NGK sensor cured it.
I'm also getting really good gas mileage - 50 MPG at 75-80 on the highway.
NGK/NTK 21001

It was around $13 on eBay.

The pile is using a couple of ounces of oil per week so maybe it's because I routed the PCVs to atmosphere.
I'll put them back into the airbox and see if it goes back to no consumption.

Where are you trying to keep the oil level?

If you try to keep it above the second X on the stick you will always be putting oil in.
