Looking to change out my 06 springs while I am doing the fork seals, I have a racetech dealer in the area, what was the 07 spring rate? would I be better off with racetech or the stock 07 Uly springs.

If you fall within the weight range (rider weight adjustments)...you can't beat the whopping $50-couple bucks for the factory springs.

If you're outside the factory adjustment range, or if you're going to track the bike, or spend a ton of time in the dirt (outside its designed "adventure" use formula)...you might see a benefit from aftermarket springs.

Bang for the buck, your best bet are 07 springs. They are not expensive, a Racetech tech likely will charge you more just to open the front door, so outside specific use cases like Ratbuell mentions I'd stick with the stock springs. Here are their rates:

2006 Ulysses:
Single Rate fork spring 39 lbs / in
Oil level 113 mm from top with fork fully compressed (+ or - a few mm ideally)

2007 Ulysses:
Triple Rate fork spring 39 lbs / inch up to 3 inches of travel
59 lbs / inch from 3 inches to 5.4 inches of travel
84 lbs / inch from 5.4 inches to 6.5 (bottomed)
Oil Level 172 mm from top with fork fully compressed (+ or - about 8 mm no problem

If you want to save time or have some spares, I actually have some 07 Uly forks in good shape, no leaks. $200+shipping.

Phelan, where we're you when I needed new forks? Mine were bent and leaking, I had to pay that much for one fork and it doesn't match my other one.

I would also suggest the 07 spring as a good upgrade. And modulate the oil level as you see fit.

Sorry bud, I just got these last week. I am building quite the Buell graveyard though, in case you need parts in the future. Been finding and buying up a lot of Buell parts lots, motors, and wrecked lately. This year so far I've bought 4 bikes (parted out 2), 4 parts lots, and 3 motors.

Does it matter which end goes in first when you install the 07 springs? Maybe someday I'll buy some 07 springs for my 06 forks.

I put the tighter coiled part to the bottom of the forks. That way makes more sence to me. BUT I don't see how it could make a difference. you wouldn't happen to have a 3 bearing rear wheel would you phelan?
