Wow!

And whats the tail bag setup? Aftermarket? I thought the factory top bag mount was unsafe to use without the side bag mounts. It looks like a nice setup.

That's a Fehling rack fitted with a Givi ally plate intended for a 650 V-Strom and a Givi V47 box. I have the side rails too but find the more luggage I fit, the more unnecessary crap I carry!

Thanks for the detail. My previous Uly just had side bags, and I never saw the need for the tail bag. Then I got an XT with bot side bags and a tail bag, and I have come nearly to the opposite conclusion.

I use the tail bag all the side, and barely ever open the side bags (though one is full of spare parts).

Mine would be Scotland. Monarch of the Glen. Great series to watch.

If and when I get my 75 Triumph Trident road worthy, the plan is to ship it to London and then go all over England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and hopefully the Isle of Man. It's spread out over my whole house! Should be an interesting puzzle!

Funny, I've always wanted to ship my S2 over to America for a road trip.
I was barely riding a couple of years ago until I convinced my wife to take the kids to Ireland (visiting family and friends) in the car while I got to ride over. This summer was my third trip. That picture was on the Healy Pass on the Beara peninsula which straddles the Cork/Kerry border.
This is the rack set-up without the box but with side rails on last year's trip:

My ancestors are from County Cork. Which, from what I have heard about people from County Cork, explains a lot. : )

@Simond: i see you have a 2009 Uly. Is your bike a US import, or did you changed the exhaust headers? I ask because i see you are from Europe and your bike is equipped with the right side air scoop from the comfort kit, from what i know it is not possible to fit the scoop to EU Uly models because the front header has a different bend compared to US models.

It's a UK model. One of the first things I did was to change the headers to US spec and fit the Remus muffler (and the 2010 rear wheel).

Simond,
I really get a kick out of British tv shows like "The Inbetweeners", "Inspector George Gently", "Happy Valley", "Greenwing" and lots of others. The censors here in the U.S. are what make British shows so much more fun to watch because very little seems to be off limits in Britain. American censors have no problem with extreme violence but use a few ribald words and they go all in a dither. Because of the censors the U.S. copies a super funny series like "The Inbetweeners" and of course the copy is absolutely unwatchable.

Dan_m, Buell offers a different shaped scoop for the European bikes. It is not as big, but it does help.

Isn't that the same scoop that the later bolts and Lightnings got?

i think it has to be a different scoop cuz the exhaust headers are a different shape and size at the collector/muffler inlet

I get that, but I'm also saying it came stock on some American models as well, that's how I ended up with one.

@Froggy: yes, i know, my Uly is equipped with that scoop. To manage the heat problem i bought the rider comfort kit (i knew before buying that ride side scoop will not fit). But comparing the scoop from kit to the one from my bike, all i can say is that there is a very big difference in size. Maybe in future, i will swap the headers with US model, and use the scoop from the kit. Also twinmotorcycle is selling this (http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/artikel.asp? guid=&aid=10703&cid=322&s=&a=&aname=Right_side_Air _scoop_XB12_08-09_euro_)but it is too expensive, in my opinion.

@Portero72: it's nice. Seems well built and I really like the way it looks. Bought it mostly for the purposes of sound, which is great now (pronounced but not too loud unless you really step on it). As for added speed, it came with a different air filter and mapping from Twin Motorcycles and it does feel a little quicker now, but not hugely so. You'd have to put it on a dyno to see if there were any real gains there.

+1 on the Fehling racks that Simond is running. It's great that you can flip the backrest to the rear position with the Fehling top rack.

I like to run the smaller E21 top loaders for daily use. I think of them more as frame sliders that can carry a few things!

I use the E21s too as they are no wider than the bars and I can still filter through traffic with them fitted. Most of the time the box is empty - I value the ability to lock helmet and jacket inside rather than lugging bike gear around with me all the time.
