My son and I rode our ULYs out to Sturgis. 600 miles each way. Very light year for the amount of bikes at Sturgis which was nice but I'm sure the Sturgis vendors would argue that position. Nice and cool at night in the hills but Sturgis was hot as usual. Demo'd Harleys, Yamahas, and the Polaris Victory Empulse electric motorcycle. The Empulse looks good but terribly uncomfortable. It puts an ungodly amount of pressure against the boys because you sit in a V cup. It was pure torture during the demo ride. The thing has a transmission which it does not need in the least. They told us to just leave it in 3rd gear and it wouldn't need to be shifted unless we really felt like shifting. Ridiculous. No man who sits on that bike would ever consider buying one unless he was interested in becoming transgenderfied.

My ULY had some bad surging problems during the trip but it was intermittent and I was able to keep going. I'm hoping it just needs me to give it a TPS reset. That is what I'll start with at least. Also needs new rear brake pads for the first time (I can't remember changing them before) in 53,000 miles. My son's 07' ULY was flawless but his has only 25,000 miles. We both got great gas mileage, his a bit better but mine was loaded at least 100 lbs heavier. We went out at 70 mph and came back about the same except for a hundred miles or thereabouts at 80 mph. Mostly secondary roads the entire way.
